Nononononooooo not too late!!
Here's the basic story so far...
A guy called Prof Surresh discovered a genetic marker that certain people carry - these people can develop special abilities. Prof Surresh published a book about this theory, then was murdered. His son, Mohinder, isn't quite convinced by the theory but started to look into what his father had done. Dad Surresh had found some of these people and was marking their locations on a big old map.
A number of murders have been reported, all the victims being found with the tops of their heads cut off and their brains missing. The FBI are looking for a man called Sylar who they believe to be responsible.
The "heroes" (people with abilities) that we've met so far are:
Nathan Pettreli - Guy running for congress with a weird old family. His wife is in a wheelchair, his Mum is very odd and he can fly.
Peter Pettreli - Nathan's brother, he absorbs other peoples abilities so for example, when he's near to Nathan, he can fly.
Claire Bennett - the cheerleader. She can regenerate. She's adopted and her adoptive father is a bit odd and we don't know if he's good or bad, but he works for a company that seems to be tracing these heroes. He knows about Claire's abilities, but Claire doesn't know he knows. Mr Bennet has a Hatian working for him who can erase peoples memories, and a woman who can pursuade people to do things in a jedi mind tricks way!
Isaac Mendez - can paint the future, but only when he's high on heroin. He's painted a picture where New York is destroyed by a nuclear bomb. He also painted the pictures of the cheerleader being attacked.
Matt Parkman - Police officer who can hear other peoples thoughts. Now working for the FBI since this odd looking blonde woman found out about his powers. They're looking for Sylar.
Hiro Nakamura - Small Japanese dude who can bend space and time. He can freeze time, teleport and travel back and forward in time. We've seen a future version of Hiro who told Peter to save the cheerleader, save the world. Hiro has seen the bomb going off in New York when he travelled forward in time and is now trying to stop it.
Nicki/Jessica Sanders - Split personality, Nicki can see Jessica in the mirror and visaversa. When Jessica is prominant, a tattoo appears on her back and she has super strength and kills a lot of people!
DL Sanders - Nicki's husband, can walk through walls, put his hands through objects etc.
Mica Sanders - Nicki and DL's son. Watch this space for his power.
At the moment, they've not all met. Some have come accross each other but at the moment, its just all unfolding. There's a chap called Mr Linderman who seems to be the head of the maffia or something.
