I don't know how many people have read this article but I thought with the clocks changing now would be a good time to highlight it. The change in clocks is a major trigger for many people with SAD but often it isnt recognised as the cause.
If you find that with the dark days you are starting to feel depressed and lethargic it might be worth considering light therapy. I personally use a lightbox and I know I am not the only member who does. I used to work for the company who sold light therapy and came into contact with many many sufferers.
If you are interested go to the Lumie website here and go to the help centre. There is a 'Do I have SAD' tool as well as lots more info.

I always feel really tired in the winter. The other way it affects me is I feel like there is even less time to do anything as the daylight time is so short. I always feel like it is bedtime by about 7pm. Not sure it is SAD though just the run up to Christmas being busy at work and home and generally feeling crap anyway.

I remember last year getting downer onthe darker months but I dont think it ever got as bad as some of the symptoms included in the article. It makes for interesting reading though. Ive been very teary and emotional last couple of days, but I'm putting everything down to my tablets at the moment. One minute I can be giddy, next crying and I've had a few spells of fury (smashed my mouse up the other day and was a cow to a friend and dont really remember it). Its only been the last week and although it is dark it coinsides with the dark nights, I still dont think it is anything serious. Hopefully all will pass in the next week only 4 more days left lol

I'm using my Lumie lightbox as I type!
I started to use it a few weeks ago but was stuggling as I've not been feeling too well. With the clocks changing, I'm making a concious effort to use it as it really makes the difference for me during the winter.
I was diagnosed with SAD about 6 years ago and have had a light box for 5 years. This is my 2nd one as the 1st one was very big and you had to sit quite close up to it, making it tricky to do anything else. This one is much better as it sits on a shelf above my PC screen, and I can just have between 30 mins and 2 hours - depending on how I'm doing - catching up with paper work, and Madmums! - at the same time.

Thats the one I'm going to get Dizie - I used to use it at work and it was fab! I have quite a bulky one now so I need to change it soon. I had an argument with DH last night who denied the condition existed but when I asked him about the times of year I get depressed and when my mum has her depressive episodes he admitted it was almost always winter time. I am determined to get through this winter without the help of anti d's so my lightbox will play an important part in my life there coming months!
