Hi all,I am hoping someone might be able to give me some advice on a test i need to have done for suspected hole in the heart.

I have been seeing a neurologist for bad migraines and have just had my second mri but my neurologist also wanted me to have a 24hr ecg as i was getting palpitations and missed beats,I had my ecg done and then was told i will only be informed if there was a problem and if all was ok then i would not hear from them again.About five weeks later i had a letter to go and see a cardiologist which was last week, when i arrived at my appointment i was told i needed another ecg (only took 15sec to do!!).I was then seen by the cardiologist,he said that both ecg showed up a problem so i then got sent for a echo.I was then sent back to the cardiologist with my results in which he said it looks like i have a small hole in my heart(all of this in a space of an hour ).

The cardiologist then told me i need to come back for another appointment where they will take some blood and then add some bubbles and then put the blood back and then they are suppose to be able to tell how big the hole is from the bubbles.(im so sorry this is so long winded).

I would like to know if anyone else has had this done and what is it like???? any comments would be very helpful. Thanks all.

Hun did they say it would be done via angioplasty or using the angiograph technique?

If so i might be able to help if not..... i ask around and find out some info for you.

I'm sorry I dont know much about this. Although I do remember reading a while ago about Hole in the Heart being linked to bad migraines.

I hope you get the information you want soon. Make a list of all your questions for next time you see your cardiologists so you dont forget to ask something.

My Stepfather has a small hole in his heart and a good friend of mine does too.  Both are monitored using ecg from time to time.  As long as it's known about and kept an eye of for problems they live a totally normal life with no complications.  The only thing my stepfather finds is he suffers from chest infections if he gets a cold and then they make sure he is ok using an ecg.  The other thing they have both had done is ultra sound scans where they look at the heart muscle.  I hope that your condition is something that can be treated to help with the migraines.

Thanks for your replies.I think they only want to follow this up because of the link to migraines.

The cardiologist has said we will talk about if surgery is needed after they have done the bubble test?????  However he has said if i need surgery it will be done through the groin.

I would really like to know what the bubble test is so i can prepare myself

Thankyou Tilly,I have my bubble test done on the 22nd of november and they will decide what is going to happen next depending on the size of the hole.I might come back to you with some questions then if you don't mind.
