Seeing as we have quite a few mums trying to get pregnant I thought it would be a good idea for a 'tips' page.

I have never actively TTC'd so I wouldn't know where to start. (ok well maybe I would know where to start but that would be it lol)

I know it isnt an exact science but can everyone please post here their hints and tips for those TTCing.

Thanks

I would say that my number 1 tip would be to try and relax and not get too het up about getting pregnant.

Well I mosy certainly never TTC'd lol I know I now have a problem in that deptartment, and although I havent discussed fertility with my consultant they were saying at my last visit that eating a good diet, keeping the body fit and healthy and exercise go a long way to helping increase fertility. Like Hazy, I would also say try to relax and not worry too much about it (easier said i know, especially for the ladies that have been trying so long).

If anyone is interested, there's an article about trying to conceive on Madmums -  READ IT HERE

I didn't have a clue about how my body worked and my cycle etc when we started to try for Ella. My tip would be - get to know your cycle and when your most fertile days are.

Happy reading!

Try not to get annoyed by all the people that say relax and have fun.  Ignore all the people that got pregnant the first month trying or have never "tried".

Learn the signs of your fertility mostly the change in cervical mucous, learn to tell the difference between fertile and none fertile so you will know the optimum time every month to try.

Have a lot of sex but keep the romance.

def relax book a holiday worked both times for me lol!

no seriously though, I have been using a new device made by BABYSTART. it is a mini microscope in the shape and size of a lipstick. you put a small amount of saliva on the lense every morning and wait for it to dry. the reaults tell you when your ovulating. when ovulating you get a very distinct fern like pattern and crystals when your not. I have fallen pg twice in three months while using it(trying ttc for 6 months before hand without it too) but of course it not for everyone.

The good thing is it is one payment £24.99 and you can use it when ever, where ever how ever many times you like unlike these ovulating kits. I def recommend it turned out i ovulated days 7-8!!! no wonder it took me so long!

I got from tesco's

Hope this helps, i see these things and wonder if they really do work, but got desperate and brought it, so please i did coz i now pg.

I would agree with Sam.  Learning your cycle is the key.  If you get your timing right you stand a better chance of conceiving.  I knew nothing about my cycle and after my MC I thought I'd look into it.  I'm still learning but have a better idea of what is happening with my body and tbh it's really interesting and fascinating.

Knowing your cycle and alot of sex. .

I have discovered that I must ovulate very late in my cycle. A mw has told me that this is very possible, which is why my dates have been out my over two weeks with two of my pregnancies.
