Hi mumies..
Kaitlyn is now 9 1/2 months weighing 15 lbs. She is eating about what she can focus on. It takes me an hour to get her to finish a 4-5 oz bottle. She eats cereal, veggies and dinner meals three times/day. She is obviously just not taking her milk well...any advice to get her to gain weight or to drink more milk? She cannot sit still for feedings is the problem i think. Help! She is only in the third percentile on her growth chart.

What was her centile at birth? My 4th was on the 98th centile, and I was basically told to get him to eat less, (which didn't work) he now at just about 2 1/2 is under the 50th centile and trying to get him to eat is a major issue. He actually ate fish fingers tonight after spending the last 2-3 months eating either spaghetti or noodles (an not much else). Have you tried her with a milkshake to see if she will drink milk that way. The other thing is what size teat hole have you got for her, maybe she needs a bigger hole in the teat? (just an idea)

SHe lovessss fingerfoods but there isnt obviously not much she gets down with not having any teeth and it all ends up on her bibs hehee. she likes to grab her pacifier and that doesnt help. If she has toys, that ends up in her mouth with food as well LOL. Ahhhh...i surrender !! She just doesnt take her milk at all, which is the biggest problem.

OMG that brings back memories hey Zoe! lol The only time I ever encouraged any of mine to play at the dinner table! pmsl Don't let her see that it bothers you or the battles will become full blown war zones! I am talking from experience. Fred got the spoon in his hand and only once or twice was allowed to use it, Winston on the other hand is quite happy to sit there and let me do all the work regardless of how often he has a spoon, and he's 15 months! lol If the docs are fine then don't worry, I always say if they are happy and healthy why worry about their weight! As for battles, it has just got to be something that is in built to their little systems, and someone has got to have removed that from any manual I've read! lol

PMSL..... i sure did miss the section on battling out your lo during mealtimes! ok, i should worry less. Its funny though, once she gets that spoon, war is over..and they really should make some kind of shield to protect us from the food flying all over the place. i end up getting it in my hair and clothes and it just looks like ive been trying to eat the food instead LOL.

Hi babe, Joshu awas born on the 50th centile but within a few weeks he was on the 2nd centile and that's where he said until about 2 months ago. If he weight is in proportion to her height I really would not worry. Joshua didnt take much milk at all, and at the HV advice I weaned him early and he thrived on food. He has a good solids diet but he never took his milk. I used to give him cheese products and yoghurts instead. It was a battle enough to get him to have milk for bed lol He was very healthy though and had a good varied diet, he was just short and light.
He was weighed a few months back at his tonsilectomy consultation, and again when he was admitted. Honestly, he had grown 6 cm's in the 8-9 weeks and had really filled out in weight. He hadnt done/ate anything different just had one hell of a growth spurt. Now he is 4yrs old and is on the 50th centile for height and weight.
I really would not worry. If she is eating a good diet, and the doctors arent concerned with her weight then she must be in proportion. Maybe she will put it on time, maybe she'll just be a dainty little thing. Joshua started drinking milk again when he was about 2ish, he'd have milk shakes and things. Just make sure she gets her dairy from other sources if she doesn't take much milk :o)
