Well, it was Islas first 'proper' time at the dentist today...shes been before but not been very cooperative but she did really well today.  She let dentist dave have a good look at all her teeth while she sat on daddys knee, she wouldnt sit on the chair apparently cos it was a bit to scary.  So hes as happy as larry and says shes got no probs at all..and all are present and correct...phew.

However...onto tasja.  He had a good mooch through...and has discovered a brown patch type discoloration on one of her back teeth.  She has to go back to see him on the 5 december for it to get zapped with ozone, painted and cooked..takes seconds..no needles, no filling..no ouchies..bonus.

He is concerned about her teeth..and is refering her to an orthodontist up at the hospital...i know where that bit is as well..cos they sorted out my wisdom teeth lol.  Its not that her teeth are manky, its just that the front ones seem to be getting wider and wider apart and look like they are on the move.  Now ordinarily he said he wouldnt normally refer to orthodontist until age 10..however because of the size of her (shes in size 11-12 clothes) and her height he cant see there being a problem.  From what joe was saying the referal is to see what they can recommend for him to start on treatment wise..so that when she gets to 11/12 she may miss out on having proper braces.  Hes said he would much prefer to do the work while the teeth are easier to move and manipulate than when it becomes a lot harder and take longer when they are older.  He had hoped that when her other second teeth were coming through that they would push back and realign her front ones..however looks like they are not going to do that...so off we go.  So im guessing shell probably have one of those single wire, plate jobby braces to sort her teeth out..am glad hes doing something rather than saying well ill leave it til shes older when itll cause pain.  If they recommend that teeth have to be removed..im going to push for her to get knocked out to have them done...rather than have a needle job done..id never get her back to a dentist i think if that happened, shes got a bit of a phobia as well.

I hate the dentist - complete phobia - partly as I had braces top and bottom when at high school - and they were agony, and my phobia was completed when I had root canal treatment when pregnant with Ruthie. I really try hard not to let the kids know how much I hate going - they're all ok at the moment, even though Becca had to get a couple of baby teeth pulled out when she went for a checkup, as they just weren't for falling out, even though her adult teeth were already through. They all have the dentist on 1 December, so fingers crossed all will be fine for them.

Well done wee Isla for being a brave girl! Hope Tasja gets on ok on the 5th - and with her referral.

xxx

aww bless her. I hope they can sort them out sooner rather than later. My girls teeth are wonky top and bottom but they are their milk teeth so won't do anything. I haven't a problem with needles and i'm now ok with dentists. I have changed no end of times though as i have also had bad experiences since i was little but luckily not enough to put me off.

Anyway fingers crossed they will have them sorted soon. xxxxxx

Glad Isla was brave. Hope Tasha gets sorted out too. My sis had one of those wire and plate type braces. I think she had an attractive head brace to wear at night with it too!
