I had bad side effects to the injection (depression, no sex drive, weight gain etc) which lasted for a year after I stopped having it. However it isnt the same for everyone. You have it every 3 months and its easy peasy and did make my periods more manageable - I just couldnt cope with the side effects too.

I have to say you'll hate me but I swear by the coil. I had it but had it taken out as I was worried it was causing my SPD to come back. It wasnt and its still the best form of contraception I've found. I have now tried most things and am going back to the coil!

Just one thing - I was under the impression the injection and the implant were the same or very similar hormones and caused very similar side effects?

Have you looked at the patch? Its newish and apparently very good.

I was told a few years ago i couldn't take the combined pill as i got severe migraines. Was put on the mini pill (double dose) Hated it. Stopped taking anything. After my son was born i went back on the mini pill single dose which was ok. It was just noe practical doing shift work and trying to find a reasonable time to take it.

I got the implant fitted. Everyone i spoke to at work was like "oh my god" why have you done that? "my wife had an awful time with it or "i became a total *". I haven't one problem with it. Well apart from a bit of erratic bleeding to start with which is one of the initial side effects.

I think it's great.

We use condoms, so I'm not much help either, sorry. My friend has the patch and she's ok on it.

sounds a bit like me, but diff side effects..

Injection - bleed constantly between age 16 -20.. combined pill a no no, since the problems i had with DVT and phlebitus.. mini pill doesn't agree with me, condoms, allergic... coil, no way!!!

In the end we opted for the best solution, Simon got the snip.. hhahaha...

i think if the implant isn't agreeing with you then the injection is a no too, as its the same hormones, but different application of it..

What about the cap/diaphram what ever its called...

I have only ever used the coil, the pill and condoms.

I didn't like the coil cause of side effects, We used comdoms or the pill. I haven't tried anything else.

The patch looks good.
