Hey.. not sure if i should be to concerned, but....

a week ago i put Jamie on to SMA gold from staydown.. i was expecting a couple of days of ewww nappie's (im weaning her too) but its been just over a week now and no sign of normal poo, its all ewww and really smelly.. i did notice a little bit of blood in her nappy on the last ewww bum change, it was only a tiny bit, but still, its blood.

do i take her to the doc's.. or give it more time?? plus, do i need to be giving her anything as she has had runny poo for over a week now.. i know i cant give her what i have on a IBS attack (warm water with 1/2 tspoon salt 1/2 tspoon sugar.. is there anything else a 6 month old can have (not sure about dioraylite, i've run out)

anyhows... any advice will help..

I would make sure she has plenty of fluids and call NHS Direct or a doctor just to be sure. I think its always worth getting blood in stools checked out, especially when she's so young.

The small amount of blood could be a couple of things, either where she has been going so much it has caused a little cut on her bum inside or the new milk could be upsetting her tummy and causing a mild form of colitis, inflaming the tissues in the lining of her bowel.  Could you swap back to the milk you were giving her before this all started for a few days and see how she goes on that, if it is the milk it will clear her system fairly quickly and you will know within a couple of days.  As she is still so small if you are worried at all, or she seems to be poorly I would take her to the gp to be safe.  SMA gold can be very rich she might not be ready for it yet.

If you are concerned then take her to the docs, there is nothing you can buy over the counter for lo's that small you have to be prescribed it.

Well, now im not to sure if its the milk or a bug..

Jamie is still having really ewww nappies, but last night she decided to vomit too, and have a temp of 38.3, she is now all bunged up in the nose and sneezing for britain.

Sophie also decided she didn't want to keep her dinner down too, she was sick around midnight, but no temp..

Also, i think both of them are teething, so that could be adding to the ewww nappies too.

All fun and games at Nicki house!!

Two sick-chicks - what a shame. I agree with Madz - I'd speak to GP if there was any blood involved, just to be on the safe-side. Hope they are feeling better soon (and you don't get the bug too).

xxx

Maybe it is a case of changing her over bit by bit rather than straight over. Let's hope she changes over to normal stuff ok!
