I got a letter today and Joshua has his first parents evening next week. I hope I will get to see some of his work. He often talks about his writing in his 'blue book' but Ive never actually seen this book. He says he writes stories in it. I obviously know how well he is doing at home, but he might behave different at school. It will also be good to know how he is doing with his Welsh. Im starting to get a bit nervous as he is now ready to start reading, and I dont know any Welsh. He knows all his letters now and he can do letter sounds, like he'll say c for cat. However, he is not learning English in school,  I will say d is for dog, and he'll be thinking the Welsh, which is in fact c for ci. Im hoping the school have something in place for English parents so that we can be teaching the same things. They dont teach them any English at all until they are 7 years in his school, thats reading or writing. Im sure they will tell me how it all works next week though.

I had Alex's first parents' night last week- I was so nervous as it was the first time I'd been on the "other side of the desk" as it where!  We were told he was a star, enthusiastic, eager to learn, well behaved and a pleasure to have in class.  We were soooooo proud!  His books were briliant- lots of sentences about me that I had a giggle about.  They grow up so fast don't they!

Awww that is soooo sweet!  I love parents evening, if it's anything like how it was for mine, you get a draw with their books in (or they are in a pile) and you get a short while to look through them, and then you get the chance to chat to the teacher about their work, and discuss any worries you may have!  Not sure about the Welsh English thing though as I left them to read with daddy or nain! lol

Awww well done, ickle man.  Joshua is such a bright little button!

I went to Max's parent's evening last month.  The nursery school were brilliant.  I couldn't make the morning appointment due to a work commitment so we arranged an after school time instead.

Anyway, his teacher was friendly and approachable answering my bullet like questions about my son.  She got my top marks because she was full of praise for Max saying how lovely he is. I was so proud to hear that he has lots of friends and had integrated well too.

Hurrah for all our little stars!!

Hope it goes well, which I am sure it will. I have problems trying to teach Bekah to read and write in English. As you said though, as long as they have guidance for english speaking parents. Alot of kids are able to speak, read and write English when English is not their first language and their parents don't speak it, so I am sure Joshua will be absolutely fine.

Enjoy your first parents night.
