I had to laugh when I heard it, more because my child benefit goes into the account that has no money in it at all! lol And yes I did receive my child benefit today, but I never did trust the government!

Its terrible, just makes me think what else they've lost. Im hoping that people cant get hold of tax credit info too as most people I know as well as there kids names etc have childcare providers listed too and in todays world it scares the hell out of me.
If we cant trust HM Customs and Excise to look after our most personal details it makes you think who can we trust?

Although i went awwwww pants when i saw it on the news this morning..i did have a little chuckle at the same time.

Apparently the mistake was made my a 'junior member' of the department...all i thought of was...hmm i know we make screw ups in our first week or so of working..but bloooomin heck thats the eff up of the century, wonder if whoever it was has there p45 yet...would love to know what their reference reads like..can you imagine that one..

I saw the helpline etc..but figured itd be pointless to ring it as its probably swamped with phonecalls...just going to go with the advice that was given out on the news...monitor your account for any strange goings on...hmmm now that could leave the banks wide open for all sorts of stuff..

Am going to give my bank a ring and give them a heads up anyway..nothing been ordered..anything going out is already set in stone..what will be going in..and unless its asda or tesco..dont let it go through...be nice to boss the bank about for once lol

The link on MSN warns everyone to be on the alert for spoof emails, especially if the ask for your place of birth as this information was not lost.

If someone wants to "use" an identity for fraud they generally need this info.
