Hope you can help me. Adam was a bit constipated last Friday but he did manage to go on Saturday, but since then he has been really upset while pooping. He shakes and cries and it's really upsetting seeing him like this. He isn't constipated and his poops aren't hard at all.

Any ideas ?

Going to sound gross..... is the area around the anus red?

He might benefit from a little vaseline around the skin to make sure it's soft and protected.

Sorry only thing i can think off

Hope he gets over his experience soon

Nope, haven't seen any redness at all but I will put a spot of vaseline on his botbot and see if it helps, thanks, xxx.

Only other thing is to increase his fluids etc and fibre for a week so it gets so soft that he isn't scared but suprised when he goes......

If he's teething or got a dicky tummy his bowel movements might sting on the way out etc due to acid (hence vaseline!)

Good luck hun x

My ds scared himself and now we are at the hospital for help on the 11th, it started by being constipated and then assoicating pooing with pain and then the cycle begins, he is now 4 and the longest he didn't poo for was 17 days, try to praise him over the top, so he forgets the pain on saturday and feels good for pooing and plenty of fluids too.

Personally I wouldnt make too much of it as they can get stuck in a cycle of poo, ouch, hurts, no poo. quite easily. I put "magic cream" on my kids in same circumstance and works wonders (they dont need to know its only vaseline!!) TRy reading him a story while he is doing his poos and it will take his ming off what he has to do!!

Any of the advice above is great, it probably hurt him a bit on Saturday, so vaseline will work, and a book to read to try taking his mind off it when he does go.When he realises it doesn't hurt again, he should be fine.
