Hi
Can anybody tell me how long it normally takes for your booking appointment to be sent out? I'm just anxious to get everything started but so far have heard nothing.

It depends on your local authority each area can be different. I notified my gp I was pregnant and had booking in appointment with mw at about 9-10 wks each time I was pregnant. The mw rang me a few days before the appointment each time.
I think some authorities don't do booking in until around 12 weeks so depends where you live.

I've already been waiting 2 weeks since I notified the surgery and all I've had is an information pack from the health visitor at the surgery. We have shared care so most times it'll be the midwife at the surgery but the booking appointment obviously has to be at the hospital as it includes the scan. I live in Scotland so it may be different, I don't know? Plus I have no idea how far on I am either which makes it even more confusing.

All my booking in appointments were before the scan and the mw came to the house to do them. Scan is normally done between 12 and 16 wks depending where you live. If you are concerned I would give your gp a ring and ask them. How many weeks pregnant do you think you might be?

As far as I am aware, in England it is not usual to have booking appointment and scan at the same visit, eg GP for booking appointment and then hospital for scan.
Then again, I am really new to all this!!
I would call your GP surgery/MW/Health visitor and ask for more info on what to expect.

Think I'm probably about 7 or 8 weeks. Certainly last time I had my booking appointment and scan at the same time. But that was 4 years ago so could have changed. When I saw the doc she did say that my first appointment would be a long on where they asked all the questions so looks like it will be when I get my scan. Last time I found out I was pregnant at about 6 weeks and had my scan at just short of 11 weeks but can't remember when I actually got my appointment letter in the post.

I hated this part of pregnancy, just waiting til I had my first appointment. Here you don't have your booking in appointment til you are 12 weeks and a dating scan just after that. You just have to be patient a little while later lol (I know its easy to say!)

I went in to inform my GP I was pregnant (I was 5-6eeks gone at that point) and the surgery receptionist was able to make my booking appointment with the Midwife there and then. I had my booking appointment at 10 weeks and the Midwife then booked me in for my 12 week dating scan at the hospital (the letter arrived within about a week of my booking appointment) I've not heard of anyone having a scan at the same time as their booking appointment, but as a few of the others have said, it probably depends on each individual local authority and their policies.
If you can't bear to hang on any longer, ring your surgery and get them to pester your Midwife for you and find out what's going on. At least then if you know when stuff will be happening and be able to feel a little more organised about it That said, I wouldn't worry about wanting things to get moving. It doesn't seem like two minutes since me and DH stood in the bathroom looking at our little magic wee stick, and now I'm 28 weeks gone and most definitely feeling my third trimester LOL. Time flies when you're busy planning for the arrival of a a baby

Her we have a Gp appointment to confirm and then a booking appointment at home with the Mw at 9-10 weeks. Shortly after that is 1st scan but all areas are different. Have you been given a contact number for the Mw? If so give them a quick ring to ask when it will be.
