Some of you may know that my waters went at the beginning of October at 29 weeks, and I was clinging on day by day. I made it to 32w 6d and then I went into labour (so made it almost 4 more weeks). I woke up early morning (3am ish) on 26th october with cramps, but nothing major, I just figured Id been laying in a funny position and turned over and went back to sleep, every 40 mins or so I'd wake up and by 7am they were starting to get where I couldn't talk through them, so I called DH and my mum (DH starts work rediculously early and mum needed to watch the girls) then I finished packing my bag, I already had most of it packed when my waters first went, just needed to add a few bits and then by 10am we were on our way (DH was in London when I called so he had to race back) We arrived at the hospital just before 11am (went to a hospital out of town as my DD2's birth at the local hospital was awful).
I got hooked up to a CTG and the ctx were every 2-3 minutes so they got the consultant to come see me, and did a scan, which showed James was still breech, so they arranged a C-section for that afternoon. James Alan was born at 4.19pm on 26th october, and weighed 4lb 1oz. He never needed any help breathing which I was so happy about. He started out having dextrose through IV's but after 2 days he was being tube fed (NGT). All wires apart from the apnea monitor came off on day 3, and then by week 2 all montiors altogether came out, except for the feeding tube. He started taking bottles from week 3, but usually had to finish with an NGT as he would get tired. Now he is 5 weeks old, still in SCBU but doing amazingly well, he takes most bottles in the day now (71mls a feed) and the tube only goes in at night now because he's sleepy at feeds in the night (which could be very good news for me when he comes out..lol) and he's now 6lb 4oz.
Here are a few pics (week 1,2,3,4 and yesterday wk5 plus one of me and James yesterday)
