I have put on so much weight this year.  In fact, this is the biggest I've ever been.

I'm not depressed anymore, quite the opposite so there's no reason for being overweight.  There is no excuse.

My life is very busy and I found it difficult to find time for exercise.

Admittedly, I'm prone to comfort eating.

Has anyone got any advice with how I can start to lose weight and look good post Christmas?

Well i think ure best bet is to try and lose a little weight prior to christmas u have jsut voer 3 weeks so u could comfortably lose about 4 pounds i would think depending on how much your over weight, have u got much to lose? the weight watchers plan is quite good ive been dieting for the past 2 n half yrs on and off since having emily and ive jsut messed about but in the last few months ive lost a stone and a half so jsut voer a stone to go for meee but its sooo hard im trying desperately to lose soem more before christmas so i can have "a good time" (eating lol) over the festive period. Obviously u wont want to be watching what ure eating over crimbo so def your best bet is to lose a few pounds before xmas so if u gain its not such an issue - goodluck!!! :)

I tried the Weight Watchers 'no count' diet last year and lost 1 stone.

Then my husband and I split and I piled it back on.

I am abit reluctant to try and diet this side of Christmas, but you do make sense about losing it now in order to splurge then.

I'll see how I get on with cutting down on portions...

I put on a lot of weight after having Ollie when I was on steroids.  I tried weight watchers on my own and didn't loose any weight, I suspect if I had joined online or went to a club it would have been more successful but I don't have the time like you.  Becky has been doing the GI diet with a lot of success so I bought the book from ebay and have implemented some of the reccomendations from the book into our lifestyle.  We don't follow it religously as I did find it was a bit life changing but we have done a few changes.  I haven't weighed myself but I have dropped a clothes size so something must be working.  We changed to skimmed milk from semi skimmed, have grannary bread instead of brown or white and have just been eating healthier.  We both feel a lot better for the small changes we have made in our diet even though we didn't consider our eating habits before unhealthy.  Might be worth a try.  I also don't have time to exercise but have tried to be more active without enrolling in a gym.

I put on loads of weight with the older ones, however my weight dropped off when I had the last 2! It's fine comfort eating depending on what you eat. You need to eat things like grapes and satsumas. That way anything you eat goes straight through lol. Good luck, but unlike what has been advised, I'd wait til after Christmas to lose the weight as you don't want to struggle, lose the weight then gain it at the feeding time of year! Good luck!

Zoe I dont think you are overweight at all, and unless you have ballooned like an elephant in the last few weeks then you have no need to be thinking about a diet plan. Just think about changing your food types to include a healthy diet.

I started the low GI diet with Becky (although I think her weight is falling off faster.. grr lol) and I have managed to loose some weight. It didnt really distrupt my diet too much, but then I had already changed my food types at the advise of a dietitian for the PCOE so much of it was the same. I basically now eat a lot more fruit and veg, fill up on those and eat a lot less of everything else. If I have potatoes I have new potatoes, or pasta I have wholemeal pasta, same with my bread.

If comfort food is your poor side, then stock the fridge up with healthier snacks, like Vix said grapes etc as they are very sweet but healthier. I have a bowl of fresh mixed fruit so if Im hungry then I just get some of that, and as a treat I sometimes add yoghurt or low fat ice cream.

My mum is doing the slimming world plan, and she has lost 3 stone in about 5 months, my little sister has also lost a stone on it. hehe my dad is being made to eat the same, but he hasnt lost as much (dont no if the cream cakes when mum is at work help lol)

Oh and another tip is to eat slower... and stop as soon as you feel hungry. Sometimes we can eat too fast for our brains to work out when we are full so we end up being over full.

As for exercise cant you get a little twister or stepper to do whilst watching tv? And if you can get some where by walking then do that instead of the car, just little things all help.. or run and done the stairs a few times a day hehehe

I'm classed as being overweight, and i need to look at loosing weight.

I have been thinking of trying the low gi diet but i'm not starting it till after i've move in and got all settled....added plus of new house is it's no where near the shops!

I don't think i'll beable to do it religiously and strictly as i'm a chocoholic and i couldn't abstain for ages!

I think i'll look into it more and see where i can make changes etc and go from there.... more along the idea of what mumsam has done as i hadn't thought of addapting and chaging it to suit me and my life till i read her post.... seems more achieveable now x
