Hi girlies!! Can anyone help please?? I'm almost 34 weeks pregnant with my twinnies and I've come out in an almighty rash on my tummy. It looks and feels like heat rash and is driving me up the wall. I'm smothered in calamine lotion which gives temporary relief but then the burn comes back 20 minutes later. Has anyone else experienced this? Is it PUPPPs? I'm gonna go see my GP tomorrow and beg for something that might work and stop me from pulling my hair out. Any help will be gratefully received!!

Much love from a very itchy Tara.x

P.S. My mood is far from content right now!!

omg I do hope it's not hives!!  I had that when I was pregnant with Hannah and I was in tears with the emergency doctor at 2am!! I've never had anything so itchy in my whole life, I really feel for you...

I took Piriton which really helped...the doctor told me it was ok to take altho the midwife did say not to take if I could help it but I REALLY needed it!!

I also used bicarb of soda mixed with water applied directly onto the rash...

Hope it stops itching soon, x

It's horrid isn't it!! When I went to the chemist today the pharmicist mentioned piriton but said i had to get a prescription from my docs for it...which hopefully i'll get tomorrow. For me now its ice packs wrapped in towels and calamine lotion in abundance!!

I'll let you know how it goes at the docs. Thanks for your help. x

I've never had this im affraid, but just wanted to say i hope your gp can give you something to relieve it soon, it sounds very annoying to say the least!
If it is just a heat rash, it should clear pretty quickly with piriton, so good luck at the doc's.

There is a picture of the PUPPP rash on the Madmums Preganancy Rash article, not sure if that helps. Good Luck.

helloooo!! Thanks for your help. Looking at that photo of PUPPP rash mine doesn't seem so bad. Mine does really look like heat rash compared to that pic. So, I went to the docs this morning and she gave me aqueous cream to use in the shower and as a moisturiser. Also gave me a hydrocortisone cream to relieve the itchiness. So far it seems to be working. I'm gonna keep using the calamine lotion too cos thats really cooling.

The doc didn't seem too concerned by the rash and said to come back if it spreads or gets worse. Apparently its not harmful to the babies which was my main concern. She was reluctant to give me piriton and to be fair i would have been reluctant to take it anyway.

Thanks again for helping an itchy lady in distress!!

Love Tara. x

I had severe itching when pregnant with my 2nd one. It drove me and hubby to distraction !! Was worse at night so I would lie scratching away with hubby trying to sleep, lol.

I get really bad itchiness in pregnancy. Ive drawn blood in a lot of places and will end up with scars. I bathe in a bath emollient and have to take antihistimines to ease the itches! Ive also cut my nails down to!
Ive found by changing wash powders and not using so many perfumed products Im getting by. Shower gel and bubble bath tend to be the ones to set me off, so use alternatives from the health food shop.
Hth and the itchines eases off.
