Thankyou all so much. Hopefully there will be better news in a few more months time.

Not realy sure how long to wait realy, doctor said 3 months but there seems to be a difference of opinion in the wider world.

There is conflicting advice about when to try again for several reasons.  All doctors treat conditions slightly differently depending on their experience and what they feel is good practise.  Most consultants will say leave it 3 months because it is believed it takes at least 3 months to start getting over any sort of grief therefore if you fall pregnant within the 3 month window they feel it will be more emotionally challenging for you.  Also there is a little research to show that women that fall pregnant again after the 3 month time period have more successful pregnancies.

After my second mc I spoke to the EPAC midwife and she told me there is no reason to wait if you feel emotionally ready.  They like you to wait until after your first period for dating purposes because if you are not confident of when you fell pregnant this can cause more grief when you have an early scan and only a sac is seen because the baby is too small.  At the end of the day most women only need one good egg and one good sperm to have a successful pregnancy when that sperm and egg meet doesn't matter as long as it can implant and grow.

We waited after our first mc for the 3 months and were lucky enough to fall again very quickly.  Sadly for us we were carrying identical triplets and we lost them also.  After my 2nd mc we didn't wait at all but I still have not fallen pregnant since May.

Personally I think if you are under 30 then you can afford to wait for your cycle to return to normal which can take up to 3 months to settle back down.  Over 30 then you don't have a whole lot of time.  Only you will know when you feel ready to try again.
