Hello

I am at a loss what to try next with Lily so thought someone out there may have a cunning plan!!

Lily has been out of nappies (through the day) for a good few months now and has been doing brilliantly!! She just seemed to get it really quickly and after a couple of little accidents in the first few days she was pretty much dry all the time.

Over the Christmas period she really wasn't well and spent a night in hospital on a drip so her routine was somewhat shot!

However after coming out of hospital she was back to being really good and using the potty all the time.

Then we went away for a week over Hogmany and the little accidents were getting more and more regular.

Just had a message from her childminder again today to say shes had 3 accidents already this morning despite being asked constantly if she needs etc and didn't even tell her childminder she was wet

Whats gone wrong and how do we get back to where we were

It is probably just her routine that need time to come back, if she did so well before then i don't see why she won't be the same soon, prehaps she is just excited by being with the childminder and being asked about all the things over christmas it has just got her excited again and she forgot, i would stick to what you were doing and she should be just fine with time. Ella did this too - except with out going away for hogmany or being in hospital!

We started potty training in August last year and after a couple of weeks she seemed to get it. Then she'd go for weeks and be fine, then have loads of accidents. In about early November, she suddenly went back to having up to 6 accidents a day, to the point that I'd be sending 6 pairs of trousers/pants to nursery and they'd all come back soaked. So I did 2 things...

1st off, I started a sticker chart with her again because in some ways, I felt that she knew what to do and that she could do it but wasn't really that bothered about being wet or dirty. This sort of worked, but then the stickers lost their appeal, so I had a chat with her and said that if she kept having accidents, I was going to put her back in nappies again. She really didn't want this so when she weed over the kitchen I went and got a nappy, and she begged me not to put it on her. The accidents then reduced and stopped quite quickly.

I think that Ella's problem was that she just couldn't be bothered to go to the loo. She didn't seem to mind being wet, so she'd just wee where she was and that was that. Obviously, Lily might not be as awkward as my little toad, but the sticker chart did work quite well to get Ella to focus on the job in hand a bit more.

Cool thanks Diz!

I may try the sticker chart and see how it goes.

She too doesn't seem to bothered about being wet at the moment where as before she would scream the minute she did a wee!

I chatted to her about nappies last night and poor wee thing nearly broke her heart when we mentioned wearing them again so she does understand what can happen.

I just hope it passes soon as I am constantly bloomin washing trousers and pants just now so I have enough

Sticker charts are magic, until they hit 4 lol Joshua doesn't want stickers now he wants 'treats' lol The praise and reward thing really does help, and it'll make her think more about when she needs a wee, and getting her reward for remembering to go to the potty. Im sure she'll soon get back in the swing of it, these last 4 weeks have been a lot for any toddler, not to mention a poorly little toddler!

Fee i think most lo's go through this at some point. My girls have done this a few times and also over xmas Ashleigh was the worst having accidents. I think its due to the excitement and not thinking whether they need the loo. Ashleigh just forgets until its to late. This is so frustrating i know but it shouldn't take her long to get back to her old routine. My friends girls are 4 now and she still has to make them go to the loo as they are to busy playing and just forget until its to late.
