I hope hes wrong as well...however...he never usually is.
Now I had very very very good treatment first time round...however, on my histology report 3 out of the 5 cancerous lymph nodes had burst..so anyones guess as to where they went.
The first port of call in this case is the liver..dont know why..just is apparently. Now they did my bloods every time I had chemo..and there were no traces of any cancer in my blood..but as he explained to me the blood tests are infallible..it could be that the levels that MAY have been in my blood were to low for the test to detect..but that doesnt mean they were not there.
The tests for liver mets are really not pleasant..a few of them you have to be knocked out for put it that way! So im looking at: blood test (done) ultrasound (to be done) MRI (to be done) and laparoscopy (3 days in hossie).
Depending on where it is, will depend on IF they can perform surgery to chop out bits of your liver..but it all depends on WHERE in the liver they find it. Ive got ALL the signs and symptoms of liver mets..it just needs to be confirmed, but the oncologist wouldnt move so fast if he thought otherwise put it that way. The signs are, well the obvious one, enlarged liver, hiccups, lack of appetite, nausea, abdomen pain, hot and sweaty then shivery cold...i havent got jaundice so that ones a bonus. However, all the classic symptoms are there..so it just needs to be confirmed.
When its confirmed (got head round it already), without treatment I WILL be dead within 6 months. With treatment, im looking at 5 years tops.
Surgery is a possibility that cant be ruled out yet, there is chemo..and its even harder stuff that they use! There is hormone therapy..which is out the question for me cos of the previous diagnosis. Now they are new treatments that are becoming available..the first one is where they literally inject the chemo into the liver itself (your knocked out for that one), another one is where they freeze the tumour then defrost it, then freeze it then defrost it etc til it just dies, another one is where they insert something into your groin..up it goes...then emits radiowaves to basically fry your liver.
So there are a lot of treatments out there...thing is...its just finding the one that will suit me.
In answer to the how much weight lost...over 3 and a half stone, which is too much in the short time frame..you are talking from end of september til now..so is to much weight in to short a time frame, especially when i havent been on a diet or doing loads of exercise.
Yes im worried, but its just something else that ive had to think about over the last few months. End of the day I was always told...IT will come back and get you, just a question of when and where...
Im not going to sit and rant, thats pointless and doesnt achieve anything, well not for me anyway. If its going to happen, which it will, just a case of making sure my girls and my joe are sorted and fine. I dont want to leave them behind and am trying my hardest not to...just my body and these poxy cells seem to be thinking otherwise.
But with all the tests...they dont dish them out for no reason whatsoever, because they cost a hell of a lot of money. He wouldve only done the basic blood test to rule it out...not have ordered all the other tests as well unless he was positive theres something there...hes a clever bloke, knows his stuff, and he doesnt mess around a spade is a spade with him which is good.
Oh yeah...the mortgage guy came round tonight...and weve got the mortgage lol..we get the formal offer tomorrow morning...whooop whooop i get my house...now just need my bloomin job to start!
