How did they diagnose that?

I went for a scan on Tuesday due to my belly being 5cms too small and on the notes it says I suffer from SPD.  Surely I would knowif I do?

The only times I get pains are at nights, climbing stairs, getting dresses/undressed and walking.  But why wasn't I told about this SPD thing?  No-one has even mentioned it to me and I am now 30+1 weeks pregnant.

Hi hun

It's done on the problems your having and range of movement....  the problems your having are on the list of spd ones but here's hoping you only have it mildly... As for not knowing it can sometimes be put down to the general aches and pains of pregnancy.... but i would question them on why it was never mentioned to you and explained and your options made available... also find out if you're going to be referred to a physio as this is normally what happens.

Makes you glad you read your notes otherwise you'd be none the wiser!

I'm really peed off with the hospital as I know when I saw the CMC she mentioned a physio appointment, but then didn't say anything else.

It was only when I got home after the scan and such like that I read the notes and on 3 pages it says I suffer from SPD!

The MW's and SHO etc didn't have a clue what was going on, no-one knew where anything was, they didn't even know that I had had 5 vials of blood taken 2 hours before this MW took another 4, thankfully out of my other arm lol!

It was a complete shambles to be honest.

I am going to book an appt with my own MW, who I haven't seen since I was 16 weeks and discuss it with her.

I'd definatly do that and i'd also consider putting a complaint in about the hospital and it's blantent disorganisation and lack of skills!

If i can help in any way please feel free to contact me hun xx

hi just to let u know physio doesnt do any thing all they do is tell you to keep your legs together when turning over in bed and stuff your midwife can tell you all that or you can google it, i had it realy bad with my last pregnancy and its started already with this one and im only 7 weeks, im dreading the rest of my pregnancy now, i know how much pain your in but just think it could be much worse, try to keep positive, i know it can make you feel down and if the pain is too much go to your doc for suitable pain killers, good luck not long to go now x ps you can also try a pelvic support belt from your midwife or local baby store but be careful cause it can make it worse for some ladies
