Not a great day here today.
Bex was skiving again on Friday and lied through her teeth about it til I threatned to pop into the school tomorrow and find out why they are marking her absent if she is there, soon changed her tune, lil s**t.
She is now saying that she is leaving in a few weeks and not sitting her 5th year exams as there is no point her sitting them as she will fail.
Well, she will fail with that attitude. I can't believe she is throwing away 11 years of education for nothing.
Have tried and tried to convince her to stay on but she is determined to chuck it all away. Then she can get really nasty and say that she will just get pregnant and live on the dole like I did. I am not proud of myself for falling pregnant at 17 or for living on the dole but I had no choice but to get on with it and live on social money.

Sometimes its best to step back and let them make their mistakes, its the only way she will learn from them!

Tell her that you give up arguing with her, if she thinks she can make it in life without ever trying then that is her problem. I would then add in, if she is dropping out of school at 16, then you expect she pays her own way. You are willing to keep her while she is in education, but not when she leaves. If she does decide to give up and leave then make sure you stick by anything you say and make her work hard for anything she wants.

Oh have told her that one alright, hun.

Told her if she is going to leave, then she gets her backside to the job centre the sane day and she will have 1 week to find a job and when she does she WILL be paying us something towards her keep.

Life is all about working hard to get what you want, not sitting back and expecting it all to be handed to you.

Exactly, at the end of the day even if you beg and protest she'll probably not listen, infact she'll be more likely to go against you. There is very little you can do to stop her doing any of what she says, so if you play her at her own game and shrug your shoulders and say no more, she'll probably think stuff you I'll show you lol Hopefully she'll stay at school, even if she fails she can say she tried, but she may very well surprise herself!

.... oh the joys of teenagers.... sounds like me when i was one .

I'm sure making her work will give her the kick she needs.... my mum did this but she also drove me down to mac donalds and got the form along with others to prove to me she was serious and i think in the end after food and board i had less money than pocket money.....

I hope she wakes up soon hun and realises that your not the enemy here.
