Hi ladies...we are back after moving homes and the holidays and finally got internet going again. but, kaitlyn has still not gained any weight since 4 months ago. her pediatrician told me straight forward to feed her protein meals three times a day and cut back on her milk...i have. now, she feels she doesnt want to eat and i have to force her more and more. she is 16 lbs now and turning a year next week. what shall i do? she's eating her meals now alright but no imprvment yet. If she finishes her meals, i give her a snack or baby biscuits but what else can i give her to gain weight??

Hi hun

Is she small in size too and very active?? I have a friend who's little girl is now 18mths maybe a bit more and she's in 6-9yrs clothing and has stopped gaining weight but she eats for england. Where as my lilttle boy is a big boy and weighs a pretty pound too.... but hardly eats and it's a big battle to get him to eat anything....

So like steph says try not too worry she's obviuosly got a good metabolism and i'm sure she's fine hun.....

Kids are pro's at making us worry right from the second they're concieved to the second we are taken from this planet.....  you wouldn't be a mum if you didn't worry.... Hugs hun x

I wouldn't worry, she will catch up sooner or later! If she is doing everything that normal babies her age do, and she is active, and eating, there is nothing more you can do but wait!

Meg was also a dot at this age, and although she is still a lot shorter and lighter than most of her friends in créche, she hasn't had any negative effects from not growing! (she had stunted growth she only grew 4cms in 16mths) We have just accepted that she will be short like my family!

Liam is (this will shock) underweight according to the health visitor too, and yes he looks thin, but he is a very tall boy, he is the same height as meg and very very active!

Keep doing what you are doing with Kaitlyn, feed her whatever she will eat, and whatever weight she puts on be it a pound or an ounce, it is still growth!

She is eating then there isn't much more you can do. My youngest two are a bit small for their ages but they are happy and healthy so I don't worry about it.

My ds was underweight for the first 24 months of his life and we were told to put him on full fat everything, and feed him what ever he wants, the only problem we had was ds doesn't like to eat much food, he eats cheese so we pack his lunch sandwhich full of full fat cheese and gave him full fat milk, we used to worry all the time but now we just let him eat what he wants as food has become a real problem for my ds and we are currently under hospital treatment for guidence, if i had to do it all again with ds i would never had made such a fuss as i believe this is the main reason he has a problem with food now.

It is hard not too worry about your childrens weight but according to Hv, Adam is underweight and Zarah is overweight! Adam is an extremely picky eater and will hardly eat anything but he must be eating enough as he would be hungry all the time and Zarah can eat for england so we just watch what we give here but both my kids have a balanced healthy diet!
Itis a case of going with the flow and doing what you feel is right. I totally agree with everyone else, not too worry and they do eventually catch up in there own way!

Try not to worry, as long as she is eating and drinking then there shouldnt be to much of a problem, all children are different and i bet you and your dh are large people. If she is awake and active when she should be and not constiently alseep then dont worry, i have a niece that is so dinky that she is off all the charts but she eats loads and runs around everywhere, her parents are both small and slim so she just doesnt have the genes to be big, they are getting hassle from the hv but just nod in the right places, if your worried seek advice if not just carrying on as you are, also good luck in your new home xxx

I'm not sure what to suggest, but if you are at all concerned contact your paediatrician. It's always so concerneing when lo's aren't gaining weight. If she is happy in herself, and eating ok, I'd just have a chat with who you are supposed to just to get peace of ind about it. Congratulations on your house move, hope lo is fine according to the docs!
