Having visited the clinic last week to see a paediatrician with Fred, seems things are moving along. I have got his appointment for his hearing test, which wil be in 3 weeks time. It may seem a long wait, but I am hoping his hearing test tells them he can hear perfectly, and that his speech problems are nothing to do with how well he hears. He seems to hear loads of stuff, even stuff we hope he doesn't! lol

pmsl it's more likely going to be a case of man deefness (sp?)..... erm i mean selective hearing.... don't hear words like wash your hands, homework, etc.
No on a serious note hun, i hope it gives a clear result and gives you the key to doors, options and answers.

I took Fran for a hearing test when she was about 3 years old because she never seemed to answer me when I was stood behind her or in a different room, I was concerned she couldn't hear me properly, yup you guessed it she could hear perfectly she was just ignoring me....

Aww i hope all is well and you get the results you want.
Jamie-leigh hears and responds to everything. But like Sam has said Ashleigh is like Fran she chooses what she wants to answer and ignores everything else.

both of my 2 have been to the hospital for hearing tests as my dad is deaf but svannah has no problems and wentworth has a flat eardrum which means he needs a follow up at 3 so they can test each ear individually.
the test is easy and they try to make it fun so the kids comply

Thanks for tha ttilly, I was wondering how they successfully managed to test a child so young, I know at birth they have the computer thing, and I'mnot worried about his hearing, it's his speech, but as the doc pointed out, it's an automatic test if there are speech concerns, more because if they went through all the hassle of sorting speech problems with nothing working to find out his hearing is bad! lol So I have no worries on that score, was more curious as to how they test a 2 yr old! lol

lol....both my pair failed their hearing tests straight away...as they were more interested in what was going on around them than the hv making noises around them...far more interested in what the doctor was doing...isla was even cheeky enough to tell the hv to shhhhhhhhh im listening to doctor....ooops.
So doc cleared everyone out of room and did the test again and funny old thing passed flying colours....needless to say I have it on paper that they just ignore me lol..so thats always a bonus

My youngest was slow with her speech....and it was indeed her hearing. She ended up having gommits in at just past her 2nd birthday and she learnt to speak in a week immediately afterwards.
I knew it was her ears though as she failed every single test upto that point and the words she did try to say sounded as though she was deaf.
