Poor eds has been really poorly. It started wed night/thurs morning. He went to school but we very quiet and completely shattered when he got home. By Friday his temperature was through the roof and he spend most of the day asleep on me.

Now he has a bad cold and cough. His nose is completely blocked and he cannot stop coughing. I have been up most of the night with him and he is still coughing constantly now.

I have been giving him benilyn cough and cold and medised at night. But he's really fighting his medicine, he wont take it, and I dont know what else I can do. He has huge rings round his eyes and he looks really sick. He's exhausted but every time he nods off he starts coughing.

Help! What can I do to make my little man better?

Poor Eds. If his cough is at all chesty, I'd take him to see the Dr. If it's a tickly cough, honey is really good for coating the throat and easing the tickle a wee bit. I tend to have to get Cameron straight to the Dr when he gets a cough as it goes straight to his chest and his asthma plays up.

Hope he's feeling better soon.

xxx

I agree with the above hun if he sounds chesty get him to the docs.

Have you tried sudofed medicine for his blocked nose? I would ask your pharmacy for which he can take it with. Also i find Tixylix better than benylyn cough meds. You can get a night time one you only give half the dosage of the benylyn and it works wonders.

Also have you tried a plug in in his room. We use the sudofed one.

One more thing try propping his mattress up slighly so hes not laid flat.

Awww bless him, sounds very much more like a chest infection, and tha ttakes it out of a full grown adult major style, so imagine how it will be for hi. If he's not eating give him plenty of drink (which you know by now) but I'd try and avoid dairy things, as that may well clog him up a bit! Stick with water and fruit juice. I also let Fred have crackers. They'll soak up any excess fluid in his stomach to prevent him feeling too sick with all the fluids.

He is having plenty of water, and milk. He loves his milk when hes ill and i cant keep it from him, although he does only sip.

He has had the odd breadstick and the odd choc button as bribes for his medicine.

He's still asleep and hasnt coughed too much so thats something.

It'll be the 4th time I've taken him to docs about his cough, pretty much the only thing we've ever been for, and its never anything. But this seems so much worse.

Its breaking my heart as he cann hardly speak and keeps crying 'I want you mummy'

Sorry I meant to post last night.

Eds has an ear infection. Its not a bad one, but that mixed with his cold is causing him to be so ill. He has antibiotics.

Last night he went to bed at 5.30pm. He had a very fitful night and I hardly slept but once he'd had his dose of antibiotics this morning he became a different child.

Hes still very ill and sleeping all the time but the cough is much better so fingers crossed we're over the worst.
