Hi hun

Firstly welcome to the site, I'm Tsena and i have SPD and have had 2 children.

I had it with both but it doesn't always return in subsequent pregnancys but it unfortunatly is a bit of pot luck. Sounds like you had it pretty bad last time, it can unfortunatly get worse with a wheelchair and hospitalisation for pain relief control... But don't worry about that yet, if your already getting and recognising the signs and symptoms give your physio a bell (if you have a service like physio direct where you can self refer) if not pop along to your gp.

Do you remember the self help techniques and any of the exercises you where given? If so start putting them in place now and pace yourself.... this isn't meant to scare you but to make sure you pace yourself from here on in.

But i have to say wow 6 kiddies (well will be) you must have a very fun filled house! I look forward to chatting to you more..... take care, Tsena

Hi there.

I'm Maddy, mum to 2 year old Edward. I had SPD pretty bad with him (Wheelchair and bedbound in hospital on morphine) but I did have a particually severe case.

The thing to do is to start physio now. Get an emergancy referal and start exersizes etc that you are given. Were you given a support belt first time round? If so, and it helped, put that on. Acupuncture and seeing an experienced chiropractor can also be a big help.

There is an article on the site here which offers advice on SPD and how to cope. And also we run a buddy scheme if you want to talk to someone one on one about what you are going through. Click the link at the bottom of my post.

On a positive note I have a close friend who had SPD pretty bad first time round and the second time, even though she was carrying twins, all she got where a few twinges and aches.

Good luck and we're all here to help you as much as we can.

Hi. I developed SPD in my second pregnancy - and ended up with a zimmer frame and crawling around the house, and eventually was induced at 38 weeks because of it. It has never gone since unfortunately, but while pg with Cameron I had no additional trouble whatsoever. I'm now expecting No.4, and am seeing a physio (was seeing her before I fell pg). She will be keeping an eye on me, and I'm doing exercises now to try and strengthen my core muscles in my tum, which will hopefully mean there is less strain on my pelvis and pubic area as I get larger! (am 9wks+4 at mo).

I agree with Madz and Zany - get referred to physio now, so they can monitor you. I hope you are as lucky as I was, and have a better pg this time round.

I'm Kim, by the way, mum to Rebecca 13, Ruthie 11 and Cameron 4. We live in Norfolk with dh. Welcome to the site - hope to chat soon.

xxx
