Hi everyone

Well I am still waiting on something to happen.  Was at hospital for another scan on Monday.  not very nice, had the probe inside me for at least 30 mins.  That is what it felt like anyway.  Lots of ooooos and aaaaaaaaas then the nurse acting like it was probably bad news!  I was told ages ago that I would miscarry.  it would be good if you got to see the same person everytime so they at least know what is going on.

The nurse went and got another nurse for a second opinion.  The gestational sac is still there but the yolk sac has vanished since my last scan.  i only know this cause I heard the nurses talking and wondering where it has gone!  I didn't even know they saw a yolk sac last time.  They tell me nothing.

They don't want to do the op so my choices are naturally or take this pill.  I am really fed up waiting.  I have tummy feelings but no bleeding.  I gess they are cramps and worse in morning but vanish throughout the day/night.

Has anyone got experience of the pill? do I have to stay at the hospital or do they send me away after taking it? I'm not sure I am keen on this.

I just want to start bleeding!!

Lorna

Lorna, I'm so sorry to hear how this is dragging on for you. When I miscarried last year, it took 5 and a half weeks from when I started bleeding through to having the op and it felt like forever.

How have things been left with you? Have they confirmed that the pregnancy is non-viable or have you got to go back? The reason I ask is that from the 3rd scan I had, they were sure that the pregnancy was over but in order to confirm, the sac needed to measure 20mm - mine only measured 18mm. So I had to hang on again another week before they could confirm anything. At this point, I'd been bleeding on and off for 4 weeks and when I had a rescan the following week, the sac had started to collapse.

As for them not wanting to do the op, would it be worth having a word with your GP? If they have confirmed a miscarriage, it seems ludicrous that they would refuse your wishes.

A friend of mine miscarried about the same time as me and she opted for the tablet. She was given a tablet to take whilst in the hospital and then sent home for 48 hours. This drug blocks the progesterone which in turn separates the contents of the womb. She then went back into hospital and was given another drug which causes the womb to cramp, and so expel the pregnancy. She had to be in hospital for this as the cramping can be very painful and they need to keep an eye on you. Also, the bleeding can be quite scary. She did have to stay in overnight as it can take between 6 and 24 hours to complete and she took about 20 hours. After that, she went back 2 weeks later for a scan to confirm that her womb was empty.

I hope thats of some use. I really hope you can get some answers and that this nightmare can be closed for you very soon.

Hi Dizie

Thanks for your post.

Saw my GP yest who confirmed that at my first scan they were not certian that it had failed.  this is not what hospital told me.  Anyway second scan they confirmed it was not a viable pregnancy as the sac had only grown 1mm.  Sac is only 5mm and that is why they don't to do the op.

I really don't fancy the tablet.  I'm not in any pain today but every day is different.  think I'll wait and see what happens.

The Do also said I may not bleed and my body may reabsorb it as this is what she reckons happened to the yolk sac.

It is a big waiting game.

I will keep you all posted.

Thanks

Lorna xxx
