Hi all

As the title says i'm a tad puzzled, my youngest who is 21mths has been completely out of character last night and this morning..... and i can't figure out whats wrong and me being a worrier am getting in quite a state but i'm not sure it's anything big enough to bother calling the out of hours peeps.

Right.... last night he ate tea for the first time in ages (doens't like to eat much but cleaned his plate bar 2 small spoonfulls).... had a cuddle, bath and stories and then a milk then bed..... he was fine though all this his normal cheeky self.....

He mucked about a tad going to sleep i had to be in the room but settled within 30-40mins which is normal for him.... (his big bro is on a sleepover at his dads) at 1am he woken up screaming beside himself..... nappy dry....on wind.... didn't want milk.... didn't want covers or clothing on..... his temp was fine.... room felt cold as i was freezing!

He stayed this way for about an hr just sat there or whilst being cuddled crying.... he then grabbed his milk and drank it all then sicked it all back up.... this then started him off crying and he just sat there..... after stripped etc and finally deciding he wanted a cuddle he settled at 4am..... at 6 he started screaming again..... wouldn't have milk kept taking the bottle and then throwing it back at me as soon as he'd put it to his mouth...... He then nodded off for 5mins then started again.... screaming, kicking, pushing me away, dp just got up and said i'll leave you too it and went off to the pc..... he screamed from 6 till just before 7.45 when he decided he wanted a cuddle and he sat in my arms taking the big breaths and trying to calm down.... he won't have any milk.... won't eat his breakfast and won't leave my side...... he'll happily point to tv and mubble for in the night garden but otherwise just sits there quite....

I'm concered as i don't know what to do... whats causing this or anything.....

To add to the equation my temper is getting short as i'm so tired as he hasn't slept thought since we moved in dec and my hips are so sore that the tablets i'm taking might as well be smarties, as they do diddaly squat at the mo.

Any suggestions would be great i just don't know what to do....... he's not been like this before.

Aaaaaaaw hun, that sounds rough, I not sure whats wrong but if it is totally out of character id ring the out of hours and just chat on the fne and see wat they say. My lil man did exactly the same and was crying up until out noon the nxt day when I relented and rang docs, she came out and called an ambulance that took us straight to hospital just to be sure, he had tests etc done there and even though they could find nothing it was obvious something had upset him xx

He might be coming down with something or it might be that he had a nightmare and then got himself into such a state he ended up being sick when he drank his milk and then that upset him even more.  With you feeling tired and sore it's going to feel much worse.  If he hasn't got a temperature and is alert and playing normally I wouldn't be too worried, if he has a temp and is lethargic or just not himself but you can't put your finger on it then it's worth giving the docs a ring, better to be safe.

I used to find with one of my daughters if she had got herself into a state in the night and I continued to cuddle her and comfort her she would continue to be upset.  If I got up with her took her downstairs and did normal things but without making too much fuss she would sort herself out quicker.  Sometimes children start crying and seem to forget why but can't stop either.

Awww thanks sam.... i left some milk out this morning for him and a bowl of cheerios so he could help himself if he wanted any.... didn't want to force him and make him start up again, and yes he's had some! Yay....

He's also not too bothered at the moment by anything, urm well he's now causing choas.... climbling chairs, trying to swing on the curtains..... trash the house etc so his normal cheeky self.... i'll try that tonight if he starts again, it was just so hard being pushed away.... he's never done it before.

Oh and to make you all laugh i'm on chasing duty.... he's taken all his clothes off and even his nappy, won't sit on the potty or toilet and...cheeky mare so if he freezes long enough i'm up and there with a bucket of sorts!

Today's going to be fun! It really is how strange kids are so different..... my first was a breeze compaired to ds2! lol

Awww hun it's really worrying when they suddenly seem not themselves. It's also harder when they don't seem to be ill either. If mine get like that where they are definitely not themselves, and although no temperature, I give calpol. Just in case they have something like a head ache or sore throat. Glad he seems to be better, however, not good for you being on chasing duties! I'm soory I am sat here having read the final post zany, picturing you chasing round after him with a bucket and sponge at the ready! lol
