Lily finally went through her operation on Tuesday to get her adenoids removed and grommets inserted
This was the 4th attempt as twice we have had to cancel because she was poorly and then the consultant cancelled as he had an emergency
Anyway the op went well and was over within 15 minutes!
However, Lily didn't respond too well afterwards and the recovery nurses were pretty concerned about her. She was put on oxygen and moved up to the ward for overnight observation.
She responded well to the oxygen and her stats became normal again but she was still pretty miserable and had been sick a few times
We stayed in the hospital on Tuesday night and by Wednesday she had perked up loads but was still sick a couple of times so they said they thought she'd be in for another night
As the day went on she picked up amazingly and ate a HUGE lunch and wasn't sick
So her surgeon said he was happy to let her go if the ward doc was and after checking her etc she was happy too
So we got home last night and shes doing fine
Apparently the reason for it was an underlying virus she had that wasn't picked up before the op (impossible to know as she was completely fine apart from a runny nose before it). The anaesthatist had thouroughly checked her before the op and we were happy for her to go through with it so noone was to blame.
Thing is she pretty much has a cold all the time so finding a "good" time to do it was proving difficult and the main reason for her getting colds all the time is her adenoids so it was a catch 22 situation!!
Anyhoo after all that the op is done and I hope once her cold clears up I'll see a huge difference in her hearing etc. Already she seems to be repsonding to quieter noises so fingers crossed this will help her speech in the long run
Phew I am exhausted - its been a mad few days!
