With my 1st baby i didn't get diagnosed with SPD until about 32 weeks, however, i was experiencing symptoms at about 22 weeks. With my 2nd baby i was experiencing SPD at about 16 weeks. It is much better to be diagnosed earlier than later, that way they can get you referred for physio and a support belt. Make sure every midwife you see is aware of it also. And when you eventually deliver your baby they need to make sure they all know you have it and that they must adapt your birth to it!

If you need any help or support regarding SPD feel free to use the buddy system, the link is in my signature.

If you need any other advice please ask away! xxx

Hi hun,

I too with my first never got diagnosed till it was too late.... they reaslised it wasn't a trapped nerve when i didn't feel the pushing pain but hip and groin pain instead!

With my second i had the signs and symptoms from 12 weeks but (the same hospital) said the same as above and when i hit 16 weeks i was driven to a different hospital by dp and within 10mins if that i'd been properly diagnosed.....

Earlier diagnosis the best way but you need to push for physio and make sure you get seen and all help you need is made available. There is a self help article on this site.....

here:- http://www.madmums.com/GH_ShowArticle~HID~147.htm

Is this something you've had before with your first pg?

Take it easy and take care.

Tsena x

Sorry to hear that.

It isnt that uncomman. I was diagnosed at 20 weeks and I had it pretty bad by then. Was on crutches straight away.

Just shout if you need more info, have a look at the article Zany has mentioned and remember we have a buddy scheme if you feel you want to talk to someone one-to-one about your SPD.

Knowing what I know now I swear I had it in the last 3 weeks of my 4th pregnancy, though it was mild I remember complaining about the pains but they were brushed under the carpet as normal as I was so far gone.

In my 5th pregnancy however, the symptoms started at 14 weeks and by 22 weeks I was in agony.  I had to fight for a real diagnosis and only received one session of physio throughout the pregnancy.  I was on cruches by 28 weeks and was in agony.  It did worsen a little more towards the end of the pregnancy so much so I was booked in for induction but fortunately went into labour myself 3 days before the induction was scheduelled.

After the birth within an hour or so the syptoms subsided and during the day I was great though at night I still suffered until about 4 weeks post birth.

Mine was "diagnosed" at 30 weeks.

I am 34 weeks on Thursday and seeing Physio that day after my scan.

I am in agony with it ......... apparently it was growing pains.

about 20 weeks on second pregnancy. But was suffering beginning of it by 8 weeks on third, and crippled soon after. Spent honeymoon at 13 weeks finding benches and sitting down most of time.
