Hello girlies! Just need a bit of advice really.....my little Amelia who is 9 days old now seems to have really bad wind all the time especially at night. She trumps like a trooper but sill seems to have more trapped that she can't shift. I give her warm water which temporarily eases it too but other than that i don't know what to do. Has anyone else got any tips? Last night I was up from 1am til 5.45am trying to comfort her andget her back to sleep and comfortable. Maya....Bless her heart.....slept through it all!! Any advice will be greatly recieved!!! Thank you!!

Lots of new mummy love Tara. xxxx

Hiya! And congratulations on the birth of your 2 little ones i can imagine ure over the moon! As for colic it could well be - Emily who will be 3 in may suffered with really bad colic from the age of 3 weeks - 4 months. Does she really scream and scream as if shes in agony? does she have trouble or seem to be in pain whilst feeding?does she pull her legs up towards her tummy? Emily use to get really worked up whilst a feed and scream the place down - other times she would scream for hours then when i started her on solids and at around 4 months she changed over night into a happy contented little thing!

Is she old enough for gripe water? That will help bring the wind up, but I cant remember how old it is from. There's also some droplet things you can buy to give the baby before a feed to help with wind (think they're colic drops) but again I dont remember how old they have to be for those.

Have you tried putting her over your knee and gently bouncing her, whilst rubbing her back? Or maybe over your shoulder?

When you give her her last feed I would give her it and before she finishes wind her well (even if it wakes her up) then give her her final little bit just enough to allow the suckling to sooth her back to sleep. If your BF not sure how that would work.

Hope it settles for her, poor little thing xxx

If you suspect she has colic i would recomend infacol for now as it can be used from newborn, gripe water from 3 months. Infacol helps with trapped wind as well and can ease any pain or cramping she may have! Try that for the first few months, and if she becomes resistant to it after 3 months switch to gripe water, it is a miracle in a bottle that stuff! Liam was a terribly windy baby and it worked wonders with him. It either comes up or goes down, but it stops the pain!

Hope she settles soon xxx

The other thing you can do is gently massage her tummy in a backward c motion. Sounds daft but it worked for one of mine. Hope it's not colic, but it sounds like it may be.

Yay!!!!!! You guys just reminded me that i bought some infacol whilst i was pregnant......just checked the baby drawer and there it is!! I bought it as a 'just incase' measure as you do when you're pregnant and thinking of the welfare of your unborn children!! Thanks for reminding me....maybe tonight will be a little less frantic than last night....wooohooooo!!

A big thankyou from little Amelia and little Maya should she need it too!!

Lots of love Tara. xxxx
