And....(these are his words) " i am certain you have polycystic ovaries" " We will get an ultrasound scan to confirm, but as i am certain that is the cause, i will give you a pill called Metformin" He thinks this pcos is the cause for my weight problems and the fact i still have teenage skin. So i took one metformin at lunchtime today as instructed by him, i am CD 29 at the moment and for the last hour i have had horrendous ***TMI WARNING*** Back passage cramping, it hurts to sit down, it hurts to pass a bowel movement which is nasty as i also have the runs!! I have to sit on my side lol, standing up causes the cramps too...what is up with that? It's not listed on the side effects but diarrhoea is!
I am having some standard bloods done on tuesday for liver and thyroid testing, but i have to wait for CD3 for my LH and FSH test, then he wants to do a pogesterone test later on.
Cruel irony, i have 2 gorgeous children and had no problems concieving them at all, and now i have this and can't seem to concieve again! I was blaming my blighted ovum for the irregularities when it could well have been the pcos starting up!
So does anyone have any experience with metformin? I know it is used to treat type 2 diabetes, but also used to treat pcos, the gp thinks it might help reduce my weight too as it lowers the blood sugar.
