hi all, i need a bit of help regarding potty training. my daughter is 22 months old and ive been told by a few people that im trying to potty train her too young.

i have bought her a potty and she sometimes sits on, but not to do anything. i thought id by it and let her get used to sitting on it ect before i tried getting her to wee on it ect.

Lily-Mae knows when shes done something in her nappy as she will say wee or poo. and she has started saying wee before she has a wee sometimes.

she also likes wearing the knickers i bought her the other week. again...i bought her them to get her used to wearing them.

so, is she too young? i dont want to push her, but also i dont want to hold her back from something she could do if you know what i mean.

any comments will be very much appreciated, and please, if you think shes too young then please say, i wont be offended :o)

Hun i never tried training my son till he was at least 2 but only because i wanted to wait for the warmer weather! lol he's b'days june!

If you think she's ready you can but try..... i have a potty for my lo but also for friends etc when they come round..... Just take it steady and slowly, if she can't do it don't stress as its giving her a chance to show you if she is ready if not just step back and try again later on.

hth

hiya zanynut. thank you for the reply. well i havnt been trying her as such but ive been laving the potty lying around just to get her used to seeing it and sitting on it ect. but at the moment shes more interested in filling it with toys lol. she occasionally sits on it, but prefers it to be a toys box or even a hat lol.

lol it's all good hun at least she won't be scared to go near it when the time comes..... don't forget to take a pic of the potty on the head that would be a great keepsake for her 18th or 21st! lol

Take care hun and she'll tell you when she's ready..... x

Hi hunny. I had a potty before they was even born lol.

I started around this time and it didn't take my girls long. I never pushed it i just let them do it on their own. If she is ready then she will let you know. She is telling you so leave her nappy off and see what she does.

Children develop at different stages so don't worry she isn't too young. xxx

My dd trained herself from this age and it only took a week or 2 and she has been completely dry ever since, not over night though, my ds on the hand is having medical help for his toliet habits and he is 5 this year, so really i don't think there is ever a right time other than when they decide, good luck.

Adam was 3 when I started but it took 6 mths to get him potty trained and he was 3 and a half by then. So I think all Los develop differently.
