Hi ladies its me again... I do warn you if you are light hearted or disgusted easily please do not read any further!!!!!

Well after having my operation i became constipated which i should have known as i did last time and needed help. Well i am regular but since before xmas i noticed my stomach was always bloated and i had really weird movement. I did a pregnancy test and it was negative (as most of you already know). But i have been struggling. Not to the point i have sat there really needing to go and can't, just the fact that i haven't needed to go. Anyway i started to go a few times last week and it was solid (tmi sorry). So i then thought maybe the reason for my stomach being so bloated is due to my lack of movement.

Anyway i went to a friends last week and explained as i know she has had problems and she gave me some glycerol suppositories. I know you shouldn't use other peoples meds but i was desperate (excuse the pun). Anyway i tried this and the effect was instant and i felt so much better. Then i had some Ex-lax to try and shift it from the top end (told you it was graffic lol). Well the next day wasn't to bad i went a few times and again felt so much better. Then in the evening i was sat on the sofa and felt another movment so i was trying to get up. Bearing in mind i was on crutches still. Well i managed to get up but i had such bad wind Kev nearly passed out it smelt so bad

so pmsl i tried to get upstairs still passing wind.

Yep you guessed it i poo'd myself

Now i have stayed away from this stuff but i am still having problems. I don't want to have to go to my docs yet. So does anyone else know how else to get my bowels moving regular again? I eat quite well plenty of fruit and veg and now weetabix. I just don't want to start with problems.

I know this started before my operation so its not down to this.

Thanks if you got this far and i hope you are smiling at my expense...

Hi hun

I suffer with this alot, as i don't move around much and i'm on a lot of meds which all can cause constipation, i've tried laculose but it never had much effect and i ended up doubled over with the pain. I'm now taking fibergel (yes it tastes disgusting but better than cod liver oil etc) but it works so i'm taking it once a day now but if i start to get a back log so to speak i can up it too 2 times a day!

You can get if from the pharamcy and i think (but not sure) tesco etc....  Or if your on a pre-payment certificate it might be cheaper to get the doc to prescribe you some.

Good luck hun, constipation is annoying so good luck x

Oh no Emma! lol I am laughing a wee bit - but with you, not at you, doll!

I've had on and off horrendous constipation since about week 9 of pg this time. I do eat lots of fruit and veg and drink loads of water, so my friend who's a nurse suggested I get fresh orange juice (or prune juice, which there is no way I could keep down at mo lol!). Well, the fresh orange juice is working a treat! Still not back to my old routine, but definitely going a lot more regularly and easier.

Hope you find something to help - if not, get back to doc - they'll give you something milder to try than a suppos.!

xxx

Aaaaaaaaaw hun, I have constipation with this pregnancy and is driving me barmy but nowhere near to the extent you seem to be suffering. If you dont want to go to docs, perhaps speak with your nearest pharmasist.? They are normally great and I no some have a special consultation booth for privacy too xx

It can't be that amazing it's not working on Fred! Prune juice, apple juice, bran flakes, can't think of anything else atm, oh loads of grapes de-constipated me before I had dd, can't touch more than 2 or 3 grapes at a time.

If you don't want to go to the drs then fybogel is very good, prune juice but it will give you wind and stomach cramps, senokot tablet is good too and not aggressive.  Drink plenty of fluid as your bowel sucks water in to help the passage and if there is no water there the bowel can't draw the water in.  Are you still on the codiene?  Codiene causes constipation.

Hi Sam thanks for that. I'm not on the codiene anymore. I stopped taking it near enough straight away as it was making me ill and i needed an anti inflamatry.

I woke this morning aching in my bowels but its where its obviously blocked. I will look into all these things and see which might be best for me.

Thanks everyone, i really am useless when it comes to this. xxxxx
