HI Jessica

I am expecting my first baby at the end of July, I am feeling exactly the same as you about the giving birth bit!

I am really loving being pregnant, but I do still have a fear of the labour - I guess this is totally bormal as it is a fear of the unknown, just remember though our bodies are designed to make carry and give birth to babies to I am sure you will be fine, I have come to the concludion that I must ask as many Q's as possible to everyone possible to put our mind at rest -

good luck with your birth xx

I was worried about the pain, but despite having to be induced (to speed up the labour as my blood pressure was too high) and therefore being attached to the drip and just lie on the bed, after all my plans to use the birthing ball to reduce pain, still managed to get by with just gas & air and at the end pethadine.

Pethadine does sometimes make the newborn a bit sleeply, but as my midwife had told me it has been used since 1940 and as happened with my DD the hospital staff are familiar how to deal with an side-effects.

She is now a happy, inquisitive pre-schooler.
