Jack is only 7 wks and I've given him some cooled boiled water with a splash of apple juice init. Sometimes he loves it and sometimes he hates it! I gave him it this early on as he was quite listless and sleepy last week in the hot weather so I had to perk him up somehow.

Fred hates water and very dilute juice, so I'm gonna have a word wit the hv next time I see her, and see what she can recommend. If she feels like talking to me!

Cerys is getting used to the water... although must get more organised with the kettle and keeping some water to hand... LOL.

My MIL did say to me about putting a small amount of sugar in it if she didn't like it... although I believe it has to be brown sugar. Be interested to see what HV says though.

i didnt think los could hav juice until 4 months,saying that i doubt i'll b waiting until 6 months 2 start weaning.Ryans only just started taking water but gonna try leave him as long as posssible b4 i start on juice cause i dont want him getting a sweet tooth.

You can give brown sugar and water but be careful as it acts as a laxative so not a good idea to give too much unless you want an explotion.

I am leaving Ollie now for weaning too Lilp, tried him on some rusk yesterday which he did love and ate it as fast as he could but then spent the rest of the day being sick and he didn't settle until 0010 last night after having screamed for an hour which is very unlike him. He must have used about half a bag of nappies poohing all day too. I was a very stressed Mummy last night and very tired today lol

lilp: its fine to give babies juice earlier than 4months, aslong as its very weak tho, i just tint the water with the juice dont use much at all.
