Hi welcome to madmums,

Im sorry your little one is feeling so unwell. My son is 4yrs, and last summer he had a tonsilectomy because he had recurrent tonsilitous. He had a lot of antibiotics, and he was very ill most of the times he had it, but I never saw blood in his nappy, although your doctor does not seem concerned.

I hope he gets his ENT appointment quickly and he is soon feeling better.

Blood in the nappy is caused by the antibiotics irritating the colon and causing colitis in the bowel.  The best thing you can do to help calm it down is try yoghurt to help replace the good bacteria.  If this seems to make it worse then starve from dairy products for a week and then slowly reintroduce them.  Sometimes the yoghurt will help sooth the bowel and put good bacteria back and sometimes the bacteria has caused the inflamation to make the bowel intolerant to dairy products it won't last very long though.  As long as you are giving plenty of fluids it really won't harm him too much.  You don't say if you are breastfeeding or not but if you are breastfeeding will also help but again you might need to cut dairy out of your diet to help the inflammation go down.

If at all conserned a trip to the GP for some advice is always the best thing to do.
