Has anyone ever used any of the techniques in this book?  It is written by Elizabeth Pantley?  Were they any good?  how long before you saw any progress?

I know I said I was sick of reading stuff but DH is quite set on using controlled crying and we tried to leave her to cry for quite a bit last night and it made me feel physically sick and then I couldn't sleep for hours..and we need to be consistent in the night and wondered what other methods there are...

Thanks!

I know iv been lucky, not sure i could leave him 2 cry hysterically even for a few seconds tho that would b heartbreaking - Ryans more of a whinger thankfully

Good luck greedy sorry im not much help

I have used controlled crying with all 3 of mine this includes Devlin. This time dh has insisted on a baby monitor. so if he does cry It we can tell its only because he is tired and not in any harm. You just need to take controll of the situation its not doing any harm if you set a time limit and stick to it. When you go to settle them just tell them its sleep time or say nothing and place them back down to sleep. try it for 3 days see what happens but dont feel guilty at the end of the day your only trying to do your best as a parent.

Good luck hope you find a method that suits you all.Hard Work

I'm sorry but I have never heard of the book.

I haven't used this method but one of the girls I meet up with occasionally said that she has used controlled crying.  She said that she left her son to cry for 5 minutes at first then once he settled with that she then went to 10 minutes and then she should have moved onto 15 minutes but she didn't need to he had settled himself before it got to there.

I am seeing her tomorrow so I can see if I can find out anymore if you like?

Can you use the book to beat them to sleep?

OK am gonna have to watch what I post....

I'd never heard of this book.. I have tried controlled crying with Ella, with relative sucess, but my problem isn't so much her crying, more her SHOUTING!!! I don't go in to her if she's shouting, but she can do this for 2 hours!!!

Beast Beast Beast!!!

lol Dizie!!

I'm not against controlled crying - but I don't think I can use this method yet because she still has one feed in the night which she isn't ready to drop yet - so I think it's pointless using controlled crying some of the time and feeding her others or it's just confusing and that would just be cruel - I have heard of quite a few success stories with it so I defo think it works - thanks for the advice girls and when we do it, I'll let you know how we get on!!

She actually goes to sleep no probs now - she has had the same bedtime routine since being 10 weeks old so maybe she's finally sussed that it's bedtime and no messing allowed lol
