Awwww congrats vix that it's come through quickly..... here's hoping it'll make some difference.

My hv is concerned as my lo doesn't want to use words but will scream and have a full blown paddy with tears till he gets what he's trying to get.....

So i'm being referred to speach therapy too :( however my lo isn't even 2 yet (21st april he turns 2). But i don't think i'm too bothered yet as i think he's more inclined to be climbing, jumping and running than sitting down having a heart to heart! lol

Zany, that sounds like my little Winston.  He has no words at all yet, bless him, but a few screams later once you have worked out what he wants you get the big smiles! lol  Winston was supposed to be referred but I'm not sure if the hv has got round to it.

Hi Fee,

Bekah saw a speach therapist in 2005. I first asked the hv to refer her in Dec 04 and she got seen in July 05. It was just the initial assessment that everyone else has mentioned. Bekah had a stammer, which has now cleared. We were sent to group meetings about this, via speach therapy. Anyhow her stammer did eventually clear up. I waited that length of time with greater glasgow health board. I know my nephew, who lives in Cumbernauld, only waited a matter of weeks. I suppose it is dependent on your health board.

Thanks Colie - we are with Renfrewshire

Not heard anything yet but hoping it comes through soon

She has her post op assessment at the start of June and I know the
consultant is keen to see how her speech is then so that might help
speed it up a bit

Vic - hope it goes ok for Fred next week - keep us updated
xx

From being reffered in january we waited 5 months in all, not bad, as the reckoned it could be 6 months or more.

My ds had his first speech therapy session yesterday, they tested him with flash cards and asked questions on what the pictures were, he did really well and doesn't have to go back again, but they are going to monitor his progress in school and give the schoool some extra activities for him to do, the rest will come with age, as he is the second youngest in his class, and if not they will be around to help his speech along.

I was not so well managed to get him there and back home again suffering with food posioning.

How did you get on today Fee?
