I think Eds has Slapped Cheek Disease.

He has a itchy red rash over his face and cheeks since he woke this morning. He isnt overly bothered except by the itching occassionally. He seems to have a touch of diarrhoea as well but otherwise is ok in himself.

Have looked it up online and am pretty sure this is what he has, although I am seeing GP tomorrow for me so I wil ask about him as well.

Does anyone have any experience of this? Is there anything I need to look put for? I'm giving him calpol at the moment which is keeping it under control.

A friends little girl had this once and she wasnt allowed to go to school as its apparently highly catching!! ( cant think how to spell the other word!)

it didnt do her any lasting damage, just a bit itchy. Worth checking with the docs though.

Hi hunits contagious until the rash appears i believe its 2 weeks before! But you don't know then so its to late anyway!

Other than calpol they won't give him anything, well they don't her anyway. My cousin had it when i was pregnant which is when its more dangerous. If you have been in contact with any pregnant women before they have reached 20 weeks you must inform them.

This is more dangerous to pregnant women than it is to anyone else!

Mine have had this and it is weird, it does look like a slap mark, it is highly catching before the rash appears and los can be miserable and flu like for a few days before, the rash can also come and go for a couple of weeks and spread down the body. Keep him away from any pregnant women but thats it really no need to keep him off nursery just let know incase they have any pregnant staff or parents hth
