hi ladies,im just wondering which lubricants can effect sperm and which are safe as i am ttc but since the birth of bronze have had a problem with dryness (tmi sorry) and so have to use lubricants but dont want this to effect my chances of getting that BFP thanks in advance xxx

I'm not sure hun.

It should say on the back of the bottles/tubes if it effects sperm or not. We use the Durex lubes but just for fun and they say that they don't interfer with sperm or condoms.

All lubricants apart from preseed have a detramental affect on sperm or sperm motility. Some lubricants kill the sperm as they are too acid or alkaline others just prevent the sperm swimming properly. Vegtable oils, olive oil, baby oil and saliva are also detramental.

Well you learn something new everyday! I knew some lubes werent good but didnt know about the above - esspecially saliva! Not that its something I give a lot of thought to mind you!

You certainly do learn soemthing new everyday!!! I've never actually thought a lot about it either but am shocked about Saliva!

Even saliva is not a recommended lube for TTC! However, it really depends on your parthers sperm quality as to what effect it has...My dh is blessed with "super" sperm according to his semen analysis! When we concieved meg we used KY to make it fun, and it obviously didnt effect his swimmers...Same for Liam KY and still managed to get a BFP!

Preseed is the one that is tested as sperm friendly and a lot of ladies use it to help their fertile stage.

Snap pinkreptile - bless my DH must have super sperm too as it had to contend with not just saliva but the pill!!! and it still won!
