When Joshua was teething as a baby I hardly noticed. He wasn't very whiney or in any pain. The first few came through unnoticed, then I would occasionally notice him chewing more just before a new tooth, but thats it really.

Last year I remember posting because I thought Joshua was teething his back teeth, but I wasn't sure if he was at the right age. Again he wasn't grumpy, just chewed a lot and drooled. I thought I saw a tooth cutting at the back at that time.

Now he seems to be going through it again, same symptoms. He's not moaning or in pain, but he does explain his mouth is achey and is chewing on everything. He is almost 5 years old, and just seems to be at the wrong age for teething. I dont know how many teeth he should have, nor am I daft enough to try putting my finger in to count what he's got lol I have looked and cant see any signs of a new tooth at the big, but he wont keep his mouth open long enough. Could he be teething? Is he around the age where he is due any teeth?

Hi Chris hun

I don't know if this is  much help but my son lost his first milk teeth at the age of 51/2 yrs and some of his friends lost teeth at the age of 5yrs.

Might be that his big boy teeth are starting to try and make an apperance.... start stocking up for the tooth fairy. As they ache long before they cause wobbly teeth. Good luck hun.... teething seems like a never ending business.

Hope it settles down for him soon.

Hugs to all

Actually most charts state that that the second molars come in at 6 years. Including the chart on mms - here

I was only looking because Eds was complaining of tooth ache whilst brushing this morning and I can feel his second molars under the surface!

Eds has 10 teeth top and bottom and I can feel the second molars on the bottom on both sides.

Edit: reading elsewhere on the web it looks as though the next teeth to come through are actually the first permanant teeth - at around 6 years but this can change.

WHich leaves me wondering whats going on in Eds mouth!

In my DD red book there's a diagram of all the milk teeth. Twenty in total. Ten top/ten bottom.
