I'm afraid i can't help you here hun, i know a few other mum's on here have tried them and hopefully they will be of more use....

I didn't go for them purely because i could stomach the though of soaking etc and scrubbing.... (probably the wrong images, but i couldn't shift them) and then i worried what if i used the wrong bits and made them to hard and itchy etc!

See told you i was a worry wart!

Which ever you decide i'm sure you'll get the hang of pretty quick...

Did not use them myself as my DD first year was very hetic. Long story so I won't hijack your thread.

However the ante-natal clinic I went to was very pro-resuable nappies. There were at least 8 or so types displayed on the wall. I know certainly boots & mothercare used to sell them. Some have dispoable inner linings which means easier cleaning.

It certainly means more laundry & I was told that the savings were not huge once you've added up electric & gas for the washing machine. However it certainly reduces the amount of nappies in landfill sites.

Hope you get some more helpful information soon.

I too am hoping to use reusable nappies, have tried researching on the web and am even more confused!  There are so many to choose from and as they are expensive up front I really want to make an informaed choice.  My mum thinks it is hilarious that I am making such a fuss - mumblings of terry squares was all you had and you did alright etc! - lol

I will be watching here for any advice so thanks for starting the thread.  Also did you know that many councils offer an incentive scheme and some offer trial schemes.  See this link to see if your area is covered:

In Leicester I know there is £30 voucher for buying the nappies and a free trial pack for 2 weeks use (deposit required) so you can try different sorts before you buy.

I used washable nappies - Little Lambs I think.

I never had a problem washing them, but my son was very small, and very active and they were too bulky. So I gave up when he was due to go up a size. I'm glad I tried it but I wouldnt personally do it again as it wasnt right for my son and I.

I also hated the fact  had to carry dirty nappies home with me when we were out.
