Ello All

DD (age 8) and I left my Mum baby sitting Millie (DD2, now 5 weeks) on Saturday afternoon and went to watch the new Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus 3D concert at the cinema. I watched it all the way through and was just so impressed by the whole thing. Not only was it really entertaining, but in the backstage bits Miley came across as a really own to earth girl who fully appreciated how lucky she was (no Diva strops etc) and also frequently showed how much her family and friends meant to her (she performed a song called I Miss You which she had written herself about her Grandad 'Pappy' who died a few years ago- I was nearly blubbing lol). Also the outfits she wore wren't in the least bit tarty. She wore mostly sparkly jeans and tops which flat shoes and even went bare foot sometimes. The only time she wore heels was on a pair of sparkly boots, but they were comfy platform typoe boots, not break your neck type stillettos. She wore a short skirt at one point, but she clearly has shorts on underneath and when she wore a fancy dress to do some dancing with some older people, they all had low cut dressed on, where as she wore a white sports vest under her low cut bit so to make it look punky whilst still protecing her dignity

I just think it's great that Disney (they also did High School Musical which is also good)are producing shows/characters that appeal to the pre-teen age group, whilst not encouraging them to try and act/dress too old. Jess also loves Bratz, but i always feel like I've to spend my time making sure she understands that whilst it's alright for Bratz to worry about nothing but clothes, boyfriends etc, that's not real life and in real life it's more important to be a nice person than to expose lots of your body in order to be fashionable.

Three Cheers to Disney and Miley Cyrus for setting such a great example to kids

Thats excellent.

Personally one of the reasons I was glad I had a boy was the pressure young girls are under so young to look so grown up worries me so much. I, for one, cant stand Bratz dolls and think they are truely awful toys.

Its great that disney are showing some 'cool' characters who are respectable and its great Jess is showing interest in them.

Well done for spending some nice mummy/daughter time with her as well, I'm sure that cant always be easy to do!

My sd is going to live performance of High school musical, it was her 13th birthday present this but they don't perform here until september, she loves the films and anything to do with them, she will probably see this film too, its nice to see that girls can just be girls instead of objects to be oggled over.

Oh I took Ellis to see that too and I thought it was ACE!!! She is a very talented girl and yet her parents and her seem to be very grounded!

The 3d effect was amazing too - a really good idea!

I totally agree with you about her clothing and it was very tasteful for her age!

I have to admit to loving that Miss You song too - Ellis has the Miley cyrus CD for the car and I even listen to it when shes not there

And how different does her Dad Billy Ray Cyrus look??!! He plays her dad in the programme too and looks a whole lot better now than he did back in the day haha! Ellis finds it very funny when I sing her the Achy Breaky Heart song he sang - rofl showing my age now!!!!

I think all these Disney movies etc are great - Ellis is into them all and I really don't mind her watching them - they do set good examples for them.

Fran who is 15 years old likes Hannah Montana and High School Musical.  I think it's really good that they have managed to target such a wide audience that appeals to all ages.  Disney are very good at producing shows that don't degrade young people, sometimes they can be a little cheesy though.

Well done Disney, even my 16 year old wanted high school musical 2 dvd for Christmas and it appears she wasn't the only one of her friends who received it.

I have to admit, my now 13 yr old dd thinks high school musical is fantastic, it's great to see such 'wholesome' things on tv (for want of a better word).  My only problem is dd wants to have a high school musical bedroom, I'm seeing if I can save up for August when she is away at camp, it won't be an expensive one, but I can do alot of it myself and get grandma and grampy to help!
