Argh I have lost my right arm! I feel like crying and having a paddy fit!

My Laptop (bought in November 2007) has died! I called my hero in these matters (my daddy) who came round this morning - but alas - no change. After running diagnostic checks it came up with an error code and told me to Replace Hard Disk! Noooooo

Its an HP Pavillion dv6500 - within warrenty - so am contacting HP now in the hope of getting it fixed ASAP - I am not impressed as I have looked after it and not got anything on it, or dropped it - so why me?

(Oh and Tsena you can tell your DP he got it right - but I'm not happy about it!)

Awww no. I hate it when our pc brakes down, it's my life line just now. I'm lucky in that Andy is a total pc geek (in a nice way of course) and can fix virtually anything that is likely to go wrong.

He's even thinking of starting up a pc repair business, just from home at first but who knows !

My dad and his best mate have considered that.

Dad has said it needs a new hard drive - so while its in warranty it would be silly off him to go opening up the back of it and fiddling about.

I have spoken to them and they are calling me back to arrange to collect it. I hope it doesnt take too long - I hate being stuck up here in the study!

I had my hard drive go on my last HP pc, and sent it away to be repaired.. only took them about a fortnight in all, which wasnt too bad, so fingers crossed it shouldn't take them long to have yours all sorted and back with you.
I've always had HP computers, as their customer service is very good, and so is their quick repairs.

Thank your luck Madzwalker its a HP, as said earlier they have great customer service (their products unfortunately aren't that great). Do hope it works out

Can I warn you in advance not to get a Fujitsu Siemens as I got one from a large well-known stationary retailer. The retail outlet has been great & agreed to fix it shortly as the keyboard is falling apart, but I cannot manage without it for a fortnight until June due to studying. I have an L key minus its cover, which I found out has been far from an uncommon complaint from customers who purchased Fujitsu Siemens laptops. My DP phoned Fujitsu who said to him, that this is an expected out of warranty wear & tear fault they would repair it at a cost of £99.88 + carriage! This apparently is "normal" for a laptop bought new in Septmber 2007 (just 6 months & 3 days after purchase it occurred).
