I was sure I would never have any more after Cameron, and near the end of last year was discussing dh having the snip. I had been to GP about trouble I was having on the mini-pill, and she did suggest sterilisation - which I immediately knew I didn't want. I just didn't want to not have the choice in the future, it seemed so final. As it was, I was actually pg at the time, but didn't know it. Dh will be going for the snip, eventually - although at the moment I've changed my mind again and don't want him to have it (I'm sure that will change once I've got Adam here tho!lol) So I think, subconsciously, I wasn't finished adding to my family. If you are 100% certain that's what you want, Hazy, then go for it. I just know that I had doubts immediately the subject came up.

We are having a 3rd child, or will be TTC for no 3 later this year. I have to have a C-Section as my first two were C-Section and I will be getting sterilised at the same time.

After complications with Seren's birth last year I was told that I could have one more but strongly advised against any further pregnancies after that and highly reccommended that I get sterilised the next time. DH offered to have the op but the consultant told me that usually he would agree that it should be the man and not the woman because of the op... even though it's only minutes during a C-Section but in my case he has strongly advised that I am sterilised.

I was gutted when they told me as I had always wanted 4 children and it has taken me a good 10 months or so to accept the fact that I will only have one more child but I know I don't have the choice. As you do have the choice seriously make sure it is what you want. It also depends on how the hospital perform the sterilisation, if they tie the tubes then it can be reversed but not as easily as the man having a reversal, although it's not guaranteed that it will work. Obviously if they cut the tubes then I'm assuming reversal is not possible. Just make sure you are really really sure before you decide to have it done.

I asked my consultant how sterilisation would affect my body and he said that things will work as normal so it shouldn't affect my hormones and I would still have periods etc etc. I hope this helps.
