Ever since condition became extreme I've put on the weight (5 stone in as many years) and I also suffer from swollen ankles if I stand or do too much.

I really miss walking, used to walk for miles and loved it. Unfortunately live in a very hilly town and can't even go past house before first incline defeats me.

Does anyone else get the swollen ankles, and if yes what do you do to help it? some days I can't even wear socks as gets so big, and hate cold feet!

Wish could loose the weight, but know need to sort the execrcise with diet, which is pretty difficult, after all, climbing stairs for me is a challenge some days.

awww hun it's difficult, does your physio help you with exercises etc?

I'm finding the lack of exercise is extremely testing but have been loosing weight slowly over a year but thats due to medication and lack of appetite and the fact that i've never really like food.

My ankles don't tend to swell up for me but i'm always wiggling my toes and flexing my feet.

I can only suggest speaking to your physio and your gp as the medication you are on might be adding to your weight gain.....

Good luck hun and take care.

Swimming and exercising in water is the best form of exercise because there is no strain on any of your joints in water.  Before my leg broke out I used to do hydrotherapy which was organised by the local physio department and it really helped me.

Once my leg has healed I will be going back to the pool, as this is the only form of exercise that i can now do.  I completely sympathise with the weight thing - I have also put a lot of weight on due to my condition and medication and I am battling to get some off.

There is weightloss support thread in General Family Health which you can have a look at and if there are any hints or tips we would love to hear from you.

Good luck hunny xxxx
