Getting in to see the dentist is one of the hardest things ever! I've been up most of the night with toothache and it is so bad that Im sitting here crying with pain.
I rang the dentist this morning and all she could offer me was an emergency appointment for tomorrow morning and I will have to sit and wait until he can see me.
Also I think I also have a chest infection (tmi but am barfin up yellow stuff) so rang the docs - but managed to get an appointment for this evening.
Can anyone please give me any advice on how to relieve the pain until tomorrow. Im on every painkiller going so thats not an issue. But I am wondering if I should press a covered hot water bottle on my face or something - the pain is effecting the whole right side of my face and more than one tooth hurts.

I sympathise I've had tooth ache since the middle of March, I've had 3 dental appointments now (one emergency) and I've got another emergency one this afternoon as I now have an abscess under the tooth they filled 2 weeks ago.
Painkillers and an anti-inflammatory will help, I can't take anti-inflams but if you can then they will help, but as you take so many already, it might be worth speaking to your doctor this afternoon, also if they put you on anti-biotics for the chest infection then this may also help the tooth as the pain on the tooth may well be being caused by an infection if you have deep decay.
I've always had good teeth and this issue has been caused by my own stupidnessssss with not getting a cracked tooth seen to straight way and allowing it to become infected, lesson learnt there

Oh Nikki - poor you......and you too flip! Toothache is a terrible pain - it drives you demented.
I agree - something like Neurofen is usually suggested for toothache, but I would check because of all your usual meds, Nik. Clove oil is supposed to be good - I used it once when I had to wait for a dental app and was in agony - and it does give some kind of numbing effect, although it doesn't last long - I kept soaking cottom wool in it and then holding it on the area. Unfortunately I now can't stand the smell of cloves! I don't know about putting heat on it - I don't think it would harm - if it was me I'd probably try anything to relieve the pain a bit.
What a shame. Hope you get anti-bio's from doc and seen very quickly tomorrow at the dentist, doll. Sending you a huge hug.

aaaaaaaaw hun, i second wat every1 else has said & also I would 100% recommend a covered hot water bottle held to the area. I did this when I had to wait a full day before getting my tooth seen to and although it didnt take away the pain fully, it made it more bareable. Thinkin of you xx

My dh gets toothache quite a lot, and i had it a few weeks ago when one of my fillings came out, and i couldn't get an appointment for a whole week.. not even as an emergency. I got found rinsing your mouth out with an anticeptic mouthwash helped to numb it for a while, clove oil is a must (but watch your gums and tounge as it can burn!) and i blobbed a bit of toothpaste over it too, which kept the cold air off it. My Dad also told me, if you have a hole.. try to cover it to stop the air getting to the nerves, a small piece of cotton wool helps. If in total despair, like i was.. a mouthfull of whisky rinsed around your tooth is fab at numbing the area, that was the only way i could get some sleep during my wait for a dentist. I hope its sorted out quicky, its one of those things that drives you completely mad isnt it! x-x-x
