You'll probably start feeling better once those Anti-biotics start to work and they reduce the infection. Whisky does also work as Amanda said, if you have a hole and an exposed nerve, however you should not "drink" with Anti-B's because it stops them working.

I've been to the dentist also he prodded my absece with a sharp object to drain some of it (luckily mine is in the gum and not in the root) , gave me some mouth wash and anti-biotics, told me to go back next week, I'll probably end up just having the flipin tooth out, it has been more trouble than it's worth, I was in so much pain yesterday that I was tempted to try a DIY extraction with the help of my leatherman, a wooden spoon and a hammer

I don't think they will extract it while you have an abscess though, because the extraction can cause the infection to spread.

Thanks everyone, have been to the dentist and the pesky tooth is now out!!  He wanted to wait until i had taken all of the antibiotics but my persistance paid off.

He took an x-ray and confirmed it was an abcess, and agreed that the tooth should come out sooner rather than later.  He said that I shouldnt have any more bother, but to go back if i should.

The anaesthetic is starting to wear off now, but the pain isnt half as bad as it was!

I've had abcesses as well and try a salt mouthwash to help get rid of any left over nasty germs.

Oh hunny! I can't believe the pain you go through with tooth ache! To be honest give me my hip pain over tooth ache any day lol... Just reading yours and Flips posts made my crown tingle. I'm back next month to have it removed and a new one put in as its causing me problems! Now i know its no where near as bad as your two's but it still made my teeth rattle lol....

Hope your feeling better soon. xxxxx
