I know they are meant to make you sleepy, but what else should I be expecting ?
As I said in previous post, the main reason I can't sleep is not being able to switch off and having racing thoughts about nothing at all. I also get a pain in my chest which I know is anxiety when I get worked up about not sleeping.

Has the doctor given you any advice about taking them? I only ask as I've had sedatives twice for the same reasons as you, and I found that they did make me very sleepy (which was the intention) but also that the next day I was very groggy and almost felt like I had a really bad hangover. The doctor then reduced my dose but I ultimately decided not to take them. The 1st time I took them, I was only 16 and they knocked me out for 20 hours straight!
Obviously this is just my experience and everyone is different. I was told not to drive and to take it very easy. Is your DH around at the mo? If I were you, I'd wait until there was someone else about incase you do feel a bit odd having taken them.
Please don't be put off - I've sat here and ummed and ahhed about whether to post this or not. It just didn't work out for me, but then antihistamines do the same thing to me so its just a quirk!

Oh ok, thanks Diz.
Hubs isn't here just now but I don't drive anyway. I was thinking of taking just one at about 8.30pm-9pm so it will have about 10 hours to wear off before I have to get up again.
