Hi girls,

I simply cant believe how badly im being treated by my local council concerning moving house.
The completion date for our new house should have been tomorrow, i phoned up today after waiting for somebody to call only to be told the date has been moved now to the 23rd May.

I am really so angry as we have everything packed up (as the lady who showed me around the house last Friday told me to) and all the carpet and flooring has been taken up and binned.. our 2 sheds are down so all the tools/mower/kids toys ect are outside getting soaked, so now we are expected to just sit here and wait paitently?

I've been on the phone constantly today being passed around, and nobody seems to know whats going on. The manager is waiting for the contractors to get back to him, another member of the lettings team said they were just about to take the shower out and replacing it with a bath.. which they are not doing now due to my say so... and the last excuse i heard was a dividing wall needs knocking down, the floors replacing and a then a new wall to be put back up!!

This is really getting me down and i've spent most of the day in tears, sounds stupid, but some of you know how hard we've had to fight for this 3 bed house, was offered it the end of March, and now, only because i enquired about what happen next, do i get told we have to wait nearly another month!!

I feel like saying sod them all, i'll stay where i am with all the money we've had to spend out and the time were wasting.
The thing i am most angry about is their lack of communication, if i hadnt had phoned them this morning, i would still be none the wiser about the change of date.
Its always me that has to ring them up to find out any sort of information.

I'm really sorry ladies for the hugggge moan there.
I was so looking forward to starting afresh, only to have things thrown back in my face.
Many thanks for your time.

That is the day my sd finishes school for ever (exams left) 23rd may

I know its easy for me to say but at least the work will be done ready for you to move in, and you can get settled in without having repairs done aswell as moving  and settling in to, i would definetly complain about the lack of communication as this could have cost you dearly if you had hired removal vans and so on, hope the new move in date goes smoothly.

Awww hunny i too would have become a weeping puddle on the floor. It's beggars belief that they do this to you and your family.... i'm sure they don't think about the whole picture before they go chopping and changing things....

I would get the new date in writing and ring them daily to get updates..... also put in a formal complaint about lack of communication and the living conditions your living in and now have to live in due to the stuipd rules of ripping things out even if it improves the property!

Good luck hunny i hope you get to move soon and that things go ahead without any further hic cups x

I'm so sorry to hear that, Amanda. It's a total disgrace. To have you all packed and ready, then getting news like that - appalling. I'm not surprised you're upset. I agree with Nikki - get that new date in writing and keep on their backs - they can't be allowed to mess you all about like that again.

I hope everything goes smoothly from now on. Keep on with your plans - sort out your girlies' pink things - it will pass quickly. You'll be settled in that lovely new house very soon.

Sending you an enormous

xxxx

My deepest sincere sympathies.

Councils. GRRRR

Locally council residents had to live on the second floor of their homes after the flooding a few months back as our current local council said there was no re-housing provision available. GRRRR

I moved in with my current partner and father to my DD, when he'd just been granted a move due to neighbour noise by my place of birth council. However the property we moved to, had a kitchen , which looked like a huge mud slinging competion had taken place, with just one electric socket for an electric oven & one in the middle of shelving. No fridge socket!!!! The second bedroom walls of the ground floor flat litterally ran down with water when it rained. We had no hot water for between 6 - 8 weeks and it took them two weeks to put the gas fire on. This was December!!!!!  We took a risk of a criminal charge changed locks to the property I was paying all the mortguage for, but signature- wise jointly owned with an ex, about 5 months before my DD was born. We did end up homeless when my DD was 13 months old  but I had manage to rectify family issues with my parents a few months before & they offered us a roof & storage facilities in their spare room. Now we are re-housed & in a better looked after housing association property with a bright future all being well.

Anyhow. Sorry about my winge. Enough about me. Let's just hope your delay is the end of your problems. I sincerely do.

 With Best Wishes.

Thanks girls,
I've just got off the phone with the lettings manager, who has confirmed it will now be the 23rd May.. due to plastering!
Whilst stripping the walls, the plaster was falling off in chunks (which indicates damp to me?) so quite a few walls need to be re done.
He appologised for the lack of communication and promised to let me know asap on any further developments, and i asked for that new completion date to be confirmed in writing, so im getting a formal letter of apology and the confirmation date for my reference.

I do feel better now i know what is actually happening, its the not knowing and being left in limbo that i really hate.
So, im off now to unpack our entire home contents for a few more weeks and then start all over again soon.
Thanks for your kind words ladies.
