i need help brfore i go completely bonkers!

katie is now one! she has decided that from eating lots she is currently refusing meals. it is really getting to me. she has got plenty of weight on her so in one way that helps calm the anxieties. i don't know what has instigated it. food she used to eat and enjoy she's not eating anymore. i thought that texture played a part in it but the monkey will eat bread! i had her refuse anything with a lump in it and i've even resorted to jars again, which i am not happy about! she found a single lump and that was it, out it came and she clamped down. sometimes i can't even get the first mouthful into her and she turns her head away and even has learnt to shake her head no!i keep trying and sometimes have managed to get the spoon in despite her best attempts to refuse because then she's had the taste of what it is and then for a bit eats some. barely anything though. i hate having to do it though. how can it be texture related if she'll eat rice cakes and bread? unfortunately, she will not eat fruit either in a finger food way, mashed up or any other way.

is this a phase? what do i do? i am having to give her the milk so i know she is getting something. i know babies won't  starve themselves but she has been taking her first steps and so her energy consumption will go up.

she has had a cough for months, mainly at night, but occassionally in the day, the dr's state she is fine but i wonder if this palys a part but this feeding thing has started in the middle of it all. so i'd think no.

please help!

Hun sorry to hear your going though this....

My youngest now 2, was the same..... i went back to baby rice at one stage... i found by pouting his lips and dabbing a bit on them he decdided if he liked it or not!

Try to cut down milk if possible (all my kids love milk in preference to squash and water), and just leave her there with food.... or leave bits out on a plate if your worried but when it gets to the stage of her not eating is she teething? Some days my little one will eat hardly anything but otherdays he'll eat loads and it suprises me lots!

Normally my lo will decide when he's hungry and eat.... it's very frustrating and worrying but he hates getting his hands dirty.

It's not something your doing hun i think she's probably just trying to focus on everything else and will pick up eating again when she's ready.

Give me a bell if you wanna chat! (ps. my lo doesn't like bread unless it's his brothers treat of chocolate spread and then it has to be cut up into squares!)

Sounds very much what all 5 of mine have been through.  Fred at just gone 3 is still just as fussy as he was when he suddenly went off food, however the bright side, Winston is now eating almost anything again.  He is a very healthy size, but I wouldn't worry about it too much.  My answer to making sure they had the right amount was to put the food on the table, if they ate it great if not they went without.  As you know kids won't starve themselves, and I always give a cup of milk or milkshake before bed.  At least then I know they have had something good.  I also make sure snack time is nutritious, and they have one or 2 fruits.
